I think the most useful things you can do with $200 is get yourself a domain name (from namecheap or godaddy or other) and some hosting for a year (from hostgator, bluehost, godaddy etc) and a premium wordpress theme from theme forest.

With those 3 things you can get started in IM. Depending on how much is left you could go ahead and get a few months from an autoresponder service like aweber or getresponse.

$200 is a decent sum to start with, but you will have to use it wisely and not just spend money for the sake of it.

Keep you money in your pocket for now.
You are not going to become rich overnight, you probably won't even make enough within the next few months to pay for a steak dinner...

What you should do is learn as much as you can and then implement and test what you have learnt...

Which field you are a newbie, that matters. If you are a student, getting stuffs to learn things is something you should opt for. If you are into any business profession, invest in some business to increase the amount. There are many ways you can utilize the amount but you have to think a lot and take a decent decision after a hard core research.

You can invest that money to buy domain and hosting. It should only cost you around $50 - $70. Save the rest for future promotion. Don't use paid advertising when you start.

You can promote an affiliate program. Preferably your hosting provider's affiliate program or any click bank product. Make sure you are using the product that you are trying to promote. Product knowledge is really important and at the same time, people will believe you when you say (xyz)product is the best.

Make sure all your posts have around 1800 - 200 words. Target long tail keywords. You can use Google keyword planner for the same.

Then you can try facebook advertisement.. Run 2 campaigns worth $10 each. Run for 2 days and check which one gives you a better result. Do not use images from the internet, get it designed by a professional designer.

Lots of things, in fact you can start an online business for even less money. This is what you can do! As I am a fan of email marketing, which is the quickest and fastest way to make money online I would do these things:

1. Find a niche I am interested in- A niche is a topic you are interested in: Business, Dating, Excercise, Weight Loss etc.. (Whatever your passion is)

2. Get an opt in form-- This is a one page website where you will bribe a visitor for their email address in reurn for a FREE gift you will offer. A great place to get a squeeze page is Leadpages.net. It will cost about $37.00 a month but they give you beautiful high quality websites which people will be attracted to.

3. Create a short free gift for your visitors- This can be a quick solution to a problem which is relevant to your niche, for example- how to get laid tonight, how to make money online, etc.... Make sure it is a solution which delivers QUICK results. If you are not good at writing, you can get someone at Odesk.com to do it for you for 20.00$

4. Get an autoresponder account- An autoresponder is where your opt in form visitors email is stored. You can also automate email messages to be sent on different days on the autoresponder. My personal favorite company is Getresponse. Just go to Getresponse.com and sign up for their 30 day FREE trial.

5. Find Affiliate products to promote relevant to your niche- My favorite place to find products is Clickbank.com. They have a ton of products relevant to your niche. Make sure you sort the product by the highest gravity score as those are the products which have a highest chance of selling.

6. Create your Autoresponder emails- Write out 10 emails mixing content, and promotions. Content is where you teach your audience about your niche. Promotions is where you promote affiliate products with your affiliate link.

6. Get traffic- There are tons of ways to get visitors to your website. The best way is through paid solo ads. You can get started from as little as 50.00$. This is where you write an ad about your one page site to another experience list owner who has thousands of subscribers. This will lead to A LOT of Optins. You can find solo ad sellers on various Facebook groups, and by doing a google search of [Your niche]+ solo ads.

Here are other free ways to get traffic
1. Blog commenting- You add a GOOD comment on some else's blog and have a link to your opt in page

2- Forums- You enter a forum giving people tips and advice with a signature link to your opt in page

3.- Yahoo answers- Give great answers to various questions while you blend in your link to your Opt in page

So for about $150.00 you can launch a very successful business online, and begin making a lot of money. But make sure you invest in your education too. You want to know what you are doing, so find a good teacherwho will teach you how to do these things!

What I would tell you and what I would do myself are two different things.

What would I do if I were new?

- I would go find an 'opportunity' and at least get my foot in the door with that two hundred bucks. Something that got me really excited and started to release endorphins in my brain.

The opportunity would have to have a 'system' built in to take you by the hand on its own and teach you how this IM deal really works.

Now here is where I messed things up with the very first opportunity that I encountered...

It actually costed me $1,500 plus another $500 to do paid ads (I am not telling you to do paid ads, this is what I did).

And that was just to get in at the 'entry' level back then.

Then I quit after about 3 months because I didn't understand that this whole thing was a process that takes time.

That was about 10 years ago.

This pattern happened again and again to me. Start something, sabotage my success due to limiting beliefs and then starting it all over again.

Then finally sticking to (1) thing until I became successful with it.

So do what ever you want to do.

Keep your money, spend your money but just make sure that before you get started with anything, you understand that this is a process and life changing results do not come overnight.

and also, instead of going out and buying some expensive training, become a war room member... they have a lot of good guides and things for free (after the initial cost) (if you don't know, the war room, is where a bunch of members here give products and info for free!)

Put it toward your education in IM. And also you could outsource some quality content to get the ball going.

So far you have spent about $17, now go to odesk or something similar to create an ebook, and a free version of it for sell (about $150). Set up a free autoresponder with mailchimp, do a good sales page for the ebook, market it everywhere you can and get affiliates on board to sell for you too (offer them 50% of the revenue). Thats what I would do with that much money, and a question asked in a marketing forum! wish you success!

You can use your money to buy already established website in the niche you have knowledge about or some feelings for.

Already established website will have some visitors that can join your membership and become prospects.
