What's your #1 criteria for choosing PLR?

Hello. If you buy PLR, I have a question for you.

What is the most important feature or criteria when you choose what PLR to buy, or who to buy it from? Is it quality, cost, reputation of the person selling it? Or something else?

Thanks in advance for answering!

The main criterion for me is quality. PLR has to be rewritten if it's to be worth anything and it's a lot easier to re-write quality material. By quality I mean work that I would be happy to publish without any changes if it wasn't PLR.

Price does come into it and it's a factor that individual buyers have to weigh up for themselves. I would rather pay more for good quality as it will be easier to rewrite and therefore save time.

It helps if the seller has a good reputation but this is not important if the quality and price is right.

One factor that you haven't mentioned is the number of "packs" of the PLR that is being sold. PLR that has no limit is not something I would consider buying even if the quality was good. Packs that are limited to 50 sales or less would be much more attractive and worth paying a little more for.

PLR is like stock photos. After you sell few dozen, its everywhere and it does not matter if it was limited. I deal in MRR and PLR professionally, articles, books, software. graphics, and there is just no way to control how much of it is going to be out there.

Not only that, but you might pay $37 for MRR just to see it week later for $7 because somebody else bought it and as its MRR, they are undercutting original seller. Lot of folks live in 3rd world countries where $7 means lot more to them than $37 would to person living in USA.

So I'd suggest not paying more for packs, and instead just hiring somebody cheap to rewrite content instead.

You bring up some good points. But remember, even original content can be stolen/copied by unscrupulous webmasters.

Thanks. I'm actually working on starting up a small PLR site with high quality stuff (either written by myself or edited/revised by myself) and limited availability. Just wanted to get a feel for if there's enough interest.

    100% quality.

I want to rewrite it to give it my voice and some personality. I also like to add "Tips n Tricks" that provide value.

I don't want to rewrite it because it is poorly written or gives incorrect information.

I belong to a good monthly PLR site so cost is not really an issue. Though I have paid more for PLR outside the member site when I saw good products.

The reputation of the original author is of no consequence to me. I am not going to attribute the work to them. So long as it is quality, I don't care who wrote it.

Frank - good luck with your service...I think high quality content is what many marketers would like to get their hands on! I copywrite for individual clients at a fee starting at $200 for an article; however, also understand that when a marketer is building a sales funnel, auto-responder series, or needs an opt-in, they are happy to build off something that has already been well-researched and written.

When I built NicheContentLibrary I had the person who wanted to build online authority in mind when deciding what to offer. I chose to limit my licenses to no more than 150 in most cases, and also chose to write in niches where I have experience or extensive knowledge. I have been told by business owners that my passion about a subject seems to come through in my writing. I'm not sure what you plan to cover in your company, but you may consider specializing...that seems to work.

There is a need for content. The question is where can you go to get content (written, video and visual) that will save you time, keep you on budget AND allow you to accomplish your business goals. I hope that you can find your spot in this space!

It needs to be well written, firstly. I also like to hunt down some of the more rare PLR products. That can be difficult. All the free stuff has been re-distributed so many time! Sometimes you might find it is necessary to pay for a decent PLR product.

Usage. PLR can be used for a number of different things, so the quality of a article, ebook or whatever is based on whst I'm doing with it. Am I spending $5 an article to slap on a Web 2.0 property for linking? No, not at all. But on the other hand, and I going to use a $3 PLR report for a proper lead magnet /possible sale? No not not doing that, either. PLR comes in all shapes and sizes and qualities. Buy it for the purpose you have in mind for it. I'll spend $50-$110 on some good PLR if it comes with MRR, has limited distribution, and I'm going to sell it.
