A simple question - hoping you guys can offer some advice...

Hi,
I have completed all (most?) of the basics:
  • Domain registered
  • Web site hosted and built
  • Affiliate product selected
  • Autoresponder set up
  • Followup emails written
  • Some (I think) decent content to populate the site
  • Auto-submitting all posts to my six social media accounts

What I haven't done is build any backlinks. Mainly because the free backlink builders all look a bit dodgy, and the paid services are all a bit pricy.

Right now I am receiving zero traffic (as one would expect to be the case).

So my question is: what is the best way to now get some targeted traffic?

I am thinking that the only guaranteed way of getting really targeted traffic is to run an adwords campaign. I have about $10/day to spend for a month. According to Adwords, this will get me approx 8 targeted click per day. Google won't allow me to target my landing page, because they say it violates their guidelines (insufficient content). So I will have to point the campaign at my main page.

Are 8 clicks per day a reasonable result for $10?

And is this a good way to spend my $300/month? Or should I use it to pay a backlink service? My social media accounts have zero followers, I have no "friends". So I'm starting from absolute ground zero.

Comments very welcome, and any experienced advice gladly accepted.

Regards,
Duncan

8 clicks for $10 is super pricey. Think about this, a solo ad will get you 100 clicks to your landing page for $30.

Bing Ads you can get for .01-.04 per click. FB the same.

I recommend you do a little more research and perhaps take a paid traffic course before you blow your $300.

You could spend $100 on training and still get more clicks with the $200 left over.

Or, it's an incredible bargain. No one has any way of evaluating the numbers because we do not know the keywords, conversion rate, sales price, profit, back-end sales, etc.

These should be very targeted clicks - assuming keywords are set up correctly.

The real question is how much money you make from the campaign. 8 clicks is not much of a sample to evaluate that question.

  • You can spend less money is you do an $80 campaign on a website adfly to send 100,000 views to your squeeze page in less the 24hours. But you can also set you limit and just send 1000 views or 10,000 to your squeeze page per day.

Or you can learn how to market your product for free with video marketing and article writing etc.

Video! Yes! If you optimize your YouTube video correctly, you can certainly gain some targeted traffic from that resource.

With each new blog post, embed a related video - with yourself on camera. It gives you a personal touch; people will know you're real.

I need to check Adfly myself. I keep hearing about it; so I'm going to head to YouTube and learn more.

    Hey kbmcom,
Seems like you have the Basics down. Everything that you need. I assume you have the Giveaway lead magnet as well ??

Also, Adwords and that price is way too much.

Consider Bing or Facebook rather !

I took a look at your website and it doesn't look too bad but it is too early for you to worry about buying any traffic yet. You would probably be better off to use most of the money towards getting a website designer to make it look better, ($20-$50 for a good one) buying a ton of articles to add to it (can get them on fiverr for $5-$10), and making short YouTube videos to get targeted traffic (FREE). I would recommend adding adsense and a amazon store, a different logo, and a different popup to get subscribers to add their email address. It might take you 6 months in order to get any real traffic but articles and videos are the best way to get backlinks and you should use this time to make it the best that it can be. Simply keep sharing everything with social media to build up a following over time and these will pay off eventually. Trust me that $10 a day is nothing for advertising and if you do what I say, you could always reinvest your earnings towards Facebook or Solo Ads once you start making money naturally

I recommend that you DON'T go the backlinks route, or throw your $300 away on Adwords until you know what you're doing. Smedia has some good advice in #2.

You might want to consider some free traffic sources as well. This forum has a lot of advice on where to find targeted traffic - both free and paid.

There's a number of options...One is to combine Youtube video marketing and Adwords. It's much less expensive per click to advertise on Youtube (through Adwords) than it is for clicks on Google.

      Hi guys,
Gosh - you have been most generous with your feedback.

      Some questions:
      1. I like the idea of getting someone to make the site look a bit more professional. Would I need to find a company to do that, or should I take a look at what's available on fiverr?
      2. Can anyone recommend a decent paid traffic course?

      Warm regards,
      Duncan
