I finally have a basic working site template done...almost. But when I showed it to someone they told me the bar with the email sign up was horrible. They said it made them not see the content below it which would make them want to stay on the site. So I took it out. I admit it looks better to me too.

But now I have a problem. Where do you think the email sign up form could go on this page? Oh and by the way, I know it needs some more code work to make it compatible with other browsers. http://onthelineministries.com/TemplateStyle1.php

I had success with the top right.

Another good approach is to put it on a pop over / exit page.

You're fine as is. You have the visual "request your free answers" in the heading and a text sign-up about halfway down the page. I viewed it on a 19" monitor and I could see the rest of the content below just fine....so I wouldn't change a thing about that aspect.

However, I would change the text signup's call to action. The top one is for the video or book and that really stands out....I'd do the text version to say something like, "Sign up to hear all the pastor's thoughts". Because in your realm, the non-gift with frequent spiritual advice may get more sign-ups than a giveaway.

Just my 2 cents....good luck with getting launched.

As from my experience, I would easily sign up other people's subscription when there is an attractive exit popup that offer me some cool gift or free trial. It does not distract the content of the page.

I like the one from your signature link better.

    1. Your opt-in is above the fold.
    2. Your free gift is shown, so visitors know that it is a book/ebook and what it is about.

I agree with with kk075 about changing your call to action text.

Do some variation and test which one get more opt-in.

It's about testing, testing and testing.

    Good Job.
