What skills will be valuable in 10 years?

Im just getting out of high school meaning I will have all the time in the world to devote to learning new material. There are so many different ways to attack internet marketing and competition is only growing. I was curious what the community thinks the most valuable skills I can learn to start making money near term and long term are. As I said, there is an infinite amount of ways I could start making money online. What would you suggest when it comes to making a reliable income?

P.S- I really enjoy passive income

website, squeeze page or video design and being a good writer will help you out alot. In fact you could probably make some good money on here and in fiverr. I would recommend starting a niche website as well but that is more of a long term way to make income

Exactly. Don't worry about technical skills like a squeeze page for a 10-year plan. You can pay someone minimum wage to do that. Rather, in 10 years the same selling skills that were important 10 years ago will still be important

I'm betting on automated quality content right now, still months away from going live but when I do it will be thousands of webpages focused on a single niche/subject. Possibly multiple domains each with thousands of webpages.

The end goal is hands free recurring income in an evergreen niche.

    My advice is:
    • Create something traffic wants.
    • Pick a single niche & hammer it like there's no tomorrow.
    • Be creative in how you generate traffic.
    • Keep things as simple as possible.

Writing always endures. As NNT says, what endures is more likely to endure in the future.

There's just something about it that can't be replaced. Doing it for hundreds of years, and will be doing it in a hundred years from now.

Writing skills will always be valuable.

    AWESOME QUESTION!!!

A lot of people don't realize how much artificial intelligence and software is going to be extremely important. Robotics with deep machine learning is going to be huge. Big data is another important element of this.
Internet of Things integration is going to be pretty big as well.

A lot of marketing data will be put in large databases.
Where smart intelligent software algorithms will help make decisions.
I am actually working towards this in the medical field right now.
Where doctors can use software to help predict what's going to happen to a patient based on large amounts of data.

I strongly suggest thinking about getting into code, software design, database design, hadoop, big data, etc. This field is going to be extremely important to the future.

Because once you understand this. You will be able to do a lot for "ANY" field out there.
    Not just marketing.

I absolutely agree with you...We live in an increasingly data-driven age and data will only keep increasing. But the most important thing will be to discover relevant parts of the ocean of data.

Also, as previously said, content and writing skills will always be important. In an incresingly automated world, original content will always be king.

Internet marketing is a valuable skill that will take you a long ways in life if understood correctly and used correctly. If you have internet marketing skills you can do consulting, run a marketing firm, have your business set on autopilot where you don't have to be in front of it 24/7. So if you take your time to get a proper education in internet marketing they will no doubt be valuable skills 10 years from now. The key however is applying your knowledge and making money out of your knowledge. Applying your skills is the only way you will become profitable.

I think it is not skills but an entrepreneurial mindset that is most important. If you can develop that mindset, then the rest is all about outsourcing and managing your finances.

Good to have some skills like email marketing, copy writing, website development, advertising, etc. but not absolutely essential as everything can be outsourced except your own decision making process.

    Listening Skill

    Being Observant. Asking Question.

By listening to others, you can find out what they problems are even though they never said it loud. If you know what people's problem are, you can create a product offering solutions for their problems.

By listening to others, you can find out what their skills are. Whether they have a solution for a problem that you know exists.

Ability to influence people. No Explanation needed.

My suggestion, read Dale Carnegie book "How to Win Friends, and Influence People."

Skill to adapt to change is also very important.

    Copywriting.

Whether it's your affiliates, customers, yourself, or whoever deals with your business, you want a good reputation, and an ability to convert at a high rate that produces profits.

What it comes down to is, when people land on your page, the more compelling your marketing is, the more customers buy, and the more customers buy, the more you're a good investment for affiliates, and the more as your traffic grows you continue fueling your success.

It all starts with marketing and creating content.

Self Discipline and work ethic as always.

And the ability to communicate effectively through writing and also through direct conversation.

i.e. Not writing one word sentences to communicate with people when a whole paragraph is absolutely required

I think many of the young people today have resorted to English 101 using Tablets, and I think that is a huge ongoing mistake .

Really learn to write and take joy and pride in doing it.

    Real world street sales ...
Real world B2C sales (business to consumer sales) ...
Real world B2B sales (business to business sales) ...

I think you can't go wrong with those assets ...

With significant real world sales expertise -- You'd be able to:

    • Accurately identify specific needs and problems of particular groups of people that you want to cater to and can actually serve with your available resources ;

    • Correctly pinpoint fiscal and non-fiscal resources to use for efficiently developing creative solutions that can provide mind-blowing benefits to your target audience ;

    • Effectively package those solutions in ways that will educate and inform and entertain your target audience ; and

    • Strategically position your brand in ways that can grab the attention of your target audience, and keep them interested to pay more attention to your brand than your competitors, and entice them to engage with your content and brand, and compel them to do whatever you want ...

      - sales skills in general (read the classics, win friends & influence people)
      - writing skills (which sadly are not taught in school, you need to hone them with real-world experience)

I would start off with learning how to build a list. Having a list will always be a valuable asset. You should learn how to communicate and build a relationship with the people in your list. I would also suggest creating a blog and learning how to write and place good content on it. High value has and always will be placed on sites which provide quality content that your visitors can find usefull. Learning these skills will take you far even with a little budget.

One of the most important skills you must develop in order to achieve your goals is the ability to properly manage your time. You may have been disorganized your entire life, and procrastination may be your middle name, but this can and must change if you are to achieve everything you can. Time management is a skill, just like any other skill that you can learn, practice, and eventually master.
The first key to time management is to begin with a clear vision and understanding of your long-range goals. You must first decide what you would like to accomplish in the long-term for each area of your life, including family relationships, health and fitness, and career and finances. This is an entire exercise in itself, and we won't go too deeply into it for now. However, the basic idea is really to determine what your eventual goals are for each part of your life, and then to break down these goals into smaller, more easily achievable goals that will be accomplished over the next few months and years.

If you're just getting started with goal setting, you should probably start with some more short-term goals that are easier to achieve and don't take as much faith or confidence over the long-term.
Once you know what you wish to accomplish in these areas, both in the short term and long term, you need to develop lists so you can begin to accomplish milestones each month along the way.
The real trick to time management, if you want to think of it this way, is to learn to manage yourself and not time. After all, you can't do anything about the number of hours you have today, and you don't have any more or less time than anyone else in the world. We all have 24 hours per day, and you must learn to use these as efficiently as possible.
Learn to identify the tasks that are unimportant and seem to interrupt your day. You may feel like you are staying busy in accomplishing much during your workday, but you might be spending most of your time on low value tasks that do nothing as far as your long-term goals. Instead, focus on the 80/20 rule, which simply says that you must spend 80% of your time on the 20% of tasks that have the most benefit in your work and personal lives
