I thought I would use Fiverr in order to build my reputation, but I am not sure I want to set my prices. My local client that just recently moved away paid me handsomely for my work. I am not sure that I want to do that. I am not hurting for crazy work loads. I want to write 5,000-7,000 words a day until I can start my own projects with the seed money.

Is there another to develop my writing portfolio online?

This almost sounds like an oxymoron.

Fiverr is a marketplace that doesn't have a great reputation and you will have a very hard time building your brand as a top class writer by relying on Fiverr gigs. You will be competing with the lowest paid writers online in this space. Is that how you want to build your reputation?

Yes, there are many other ways to develop your writing portfolio. There are a number of freelance writing sites that will allow you to be paid for writing various articles and posts. You can advertise right here on the forum that you are a writer looking for work.

In addition, you could start your own blog or web site to display your writing skills.

You could also write ebooks or reports and sell them on Kindle or other sites that accept such.

Spend some time searching threads here on the forum . . . there are lots of places to show off and sell your work.

There is also a copywriting section of the forum where you can get some good ideas.

I think there are a lot of options open for excellent copywriters . . . I'm just not sure that trying to gain a positive reputation at Fiverr is the best way to brand yourself.

    The best to you,

    Steve

    Hi Their

Yeah there are plenty of other resources out there. TextBroker.com comes to mind. Among countless others. Fiverr is very cheap and while you can get work the seriousness of it seems lacking.

Yes, I wasn't sure I wanted to be doing 5 dollar articles. I won't toot my own horn but I do understand the values of a pro/cons list in situations like these.

      Thank you for the suggestions.

If you believe you are a talented writer who will be in demand you need to treat yourself seriously and charge more than $5

Fiverr is not going to build your reputation. If you have absolutely zero cash, I guess it can be a spot to earn the cash to get started as so far as a domain and some essentials.....but yeah, no serious marketers are building a brand or anything on Fiverr. Do you think Neil Patel is there or has ever sold anything on Fiverr?

I would get on Odesk or Elance and offer your services there. I usually see people offering 500 words on fiverr. You don't want to over work yourself. If people want more words add extra gigs and charge them way more. I payed a guy $50 on Odesk to write me a 3k word eBook.

I think fiverr is fine - don't worry about it being cheap - lot's of people price themselves high on Fiverr - why not you - your talent is the judge..

There are a lot of places that need online writers, ranging from the lowest-paying gigs to your own website service and clients. Since both ends of the spectrum will want to see your past work, put some of it up onto a blog with your contact info. Then hit the content mills, internet marketing forums, Craigslist and social networking sites in search of clients. Refer potential clients to your blog of example writing while waiting for a response and while working at several content mills.

Then bail as soon as you land a permanent, high-paying position. Content mills are the McDonalds of employment opportunities.

    Good luck!

Write some articles on your passions and what you are an expert on then submit to the related source, if you are into gardening, look for a gardening magazine, ask if they want to see more. If your good they will recognize this and offer you some paid work.
