    Having to get our subscribers to double opt-in was the whole reason that we didn't change to Aweber when we were looking for an new auto-responder.

    Was a complete joke - our list would have been annoyed with having to opt-in again!

    I think that this is a move that is pushed by competition rather than
    a change in policy really. They must have notices that a lot of their
    competition is allowing this. Competition is always good for the
    consumer.

    Wow, this is big news. And very surprising. Like Raydal said, sounds like they were pushed by competition. They sure are not the only game in town.

    Wonder how they will know if imported lists were built right? Seems this could open the doors for spammers.

    If they are allowing this, seems to me, they should now allow moving current/verified subs between lists. I see some one asked in the blog comments, hope they answer. That one pet peeve for me, that I had to make people optin again just to move to another list.

    I think that with the removal of double-optin during import, they would have lower threshold of spam complaints so that they can keep their mail servers clean?
