My name is Dennis and I have an amazing wife and 5 year old. I've given up my job to focus on an internet marketing dream that started 3 years ago, now I am in the deep-end with no light at the end of the tunnel. Desperate, jobless, but an undieing will to succeed is what I've become.

This is my first thread as I am a big fan of all the experts here on Warrior Forum. Your help would mean the world to me and my family. Basically, I'm a failure. I've written a fantastic book on the life of a professional tennis player who overcame an anxiety disorder, I've come up with a free Cognitive Behavioral Therapy based program (wanting to give back) to help anyone with GAD and panic disorder/health anxiety (has helped thousands around the world in last 3 years). I've also spent days and nights writing my %#$@W off (seo targeted blog posts), have great social media responses, youtube videos etc. I accept donations (never get any, I am trying to make money through affiliate products, nothing works to make money. Do you think i'm in the wrong niche (anxiety)? Dealing With Anxiety / The Anxiety Guy's Blog / is where i'm located, I need some help and guidance or in a week i'll be forced to start job hunting locally again, i'm willing to do ANYTHING it takes to make just a comfortable living which would be around $1200 monthly for me and my family. Any help would be amazing.

The Anxiety Guy, Dennis Simsek

    The blog looks good bud.

I'd hit the job scene and keep the blog going. Unless there is something stopping you working? Might not be just your time yet to go fulltime with that blog.

Did you look at commercial indicators in the niche before beginning?

    Hi Dennis,

Kudos to you for choosing to be free!

Methinks your niche/topic has flowed over into your life, a bit too much lol I kid because I care.

Really, all looks good on the practical tips front but you have a money block, a success block, an abundance block.

I'd suggest spending 30 minutes or more working on your mindset. The reason I advise this is because my story resonates with yours, years ago in my case.

On the outside, all the outward trappings of success lined up nicely.

I had a big following, great social responses, etc, etc....good branding, nice niche....etc....but I struggled to make money and to gain any traction with prospering.

After spending a while working on my mindset I got really good at IDing my desperation, and my desperate acts, and instead of moving in that direction I simply did the prospering, posturing thing.

Spend time in a quiet room.

Meditate. Listen to subliminal hypnotherapy audio files.

Your issue seems to be a mental block, because the practical stuff you have down pat...including a great niche.

    Onward and upward Dennis!

    Signing off from Bali.

It sounds like your passion is to write, so why not start working on another book and possibly adding it to Kindle or selling it on the site? The blog looked really good and the only thing that I was wondering about is the amount of posts that you have and how often you add new articles to it? You may consider adding Amazon links to it as well, if you get a decent amount of traffic going to it already. Another good idea is to add your newest articles in your signature and start using the forum to bring in some more traffic as I've noticed an increase in mine. Best of luck and hopefully you can find a way to make even more than $1200 a month

      Dennis,

Don't give up. Keep writing, adding content, and promoting your site. Immediate income sounds like a real necessity though, so you may want to think about taking a traditional type job again for awhile or trying some other ways to earn?

      Dennis,

If you weren't making any money online, why would you quit your job? It is everyone's dream to work online and be successful but you need an income coming in to your business. What kind of advertising are you doing? Do you have money to advertise? Are you keeping good records and testing? Split-testing is a wonderful thing. Are you building a list of any kind? If so, do you know your conversion rate?

Believe me when I tell you I know what you're going through, been there-done that. I am not giving you a bad time, I am just making some suggestions.

I wish you the very best.

You make some very useful points here. I can totally understand why dennis has done this, but it is important to have an income stream now. Dennis I'd go back into some work but keep your blog and niche going. Instead of asking for donations ask for subscriptions at a low rate to entice buyers and then sell them other similar products

Your website looks good, but (IMHO) you need to redesign it (change the layout) to make affiliate/product sales.

At the moment, I would say you are not trying hard enough to sell anything and it just comes across as a free information site.

    Good luck.

      Dennis

I agree with Brent but i would also like to add (And this may sound harsh) Why on earth would you quit your job to follow a dream (That's what IM is for a vast majority, just a dream) when you have a family to support?

And like Brent said these so called "experts" who are telling you to hang in there, don't quit, change your mindset and results are guaranteed live in LaLa land...

Really? "eventually things will click"... The OP sounds like he does not have 2 weeks nevermind "eventually" which could mean years from now...

Your number one priority now is to get a job so you can support your family!
Once you've done that you can give IM another go starting fresh and without worrying that you and your family are weeks away from ending up on the street...

      I whole-heartedly disagree.

You don't have a niche problem at all...you have a money problem. And like others have said, your content is great; but great content alone does not pay the bills. For example, I personally clicked on your affiliate link just to see what you were offering...that was one minute and 12 seconds ago. The page is mysteriously still loading.

Meanwhile, I got a popup that told me to download your free book. Now remember, I've already clicked on the link that would pay you...yet your site is pushing like mad to give me a freebie. And that freebie should be the exact thing you're selling.

Here's a statistic for you to pay very close attention to- over 99% of the world's websites never earn a single penny in income. In fact, there are over a dozen sites in the Alexa top 100....and hundreds in the top 500...that do not make any profit off of their massive traffic flow. So again, this is not a niche problem at all; it's a monetizing problem.

The way I see it, you have four options-

      1) Get a job and keep writing blogs until you figure out how you will properly monetize your site. McDonalds or a gas station would get you to the $1,200 a month you seek, and there's no reason for the "lose everything" mentality.

      2) Start picking up freelance gigs as a writer. You're good enough and it is not difficult to hit your $300 a week needs. If you want to go that route, feel free to PM me...I'll give you some tips to get started.

      3) Stop giving away your book and use it to monetize immediately. Or write another book, affiliate with anxiety clinics/trials/etc, or find something else your readers will buy. Because you're literally sitting on a cash cow and not bothering to get any of the milk.

      4) Start taking on speaking gigs to cover the bills. I personally know close to a dozen people in the motivational niche that are killing it at seminars and other events- you get paid a few bucks for speaking, you sell your book to those in attendance and it's a good living with lots of perks.

You and I have very similar stories; I quit my job before I had a steady full time online income as well. I completely understand what you're going through- but you also have to realize that you're making some mistakes. With your reach, you can be knocking it out of the park quickly but you have to commit to taking that next step.

      I hope that helps.

If I was in your situation this is what my plan of action would be.

I would get on Clickbank and find what products are selling well in your niche. I done a quick search and found a product called the Panic Away

It shows they are selling well so what ever they are doing is working.

I would purchase their product including up sells and take swipes of their funnel because I will be looking to model it at a later stage.

I would then plug their URL into Similarweb.com < I have already done it for you.

So you can see where their traffic comes from, where it goes to and similar websites to theirs.

I would then model them as best as I could not copy but model their already proven funnel and get traffic from where they do.

My main focus would be to build my list and get sales.

    Not focus on SEO.

You need money (sales) now not in 6 months time.

I hope this gives you a little food for thought

The niche is a perfect fit for you, the site looks great, you have success stories and video testimonials, 11k likes on your Facebook page, you have social proof/credibility.

You can help people and still make money, it's ok. From the looks of it, you are scared to ask people for money. "Likes" and praise don't pay the bills...

    1) You're not building a list. You need to fix that and start building a list ASAP. Take something out of this: Dealing With Anxiety / The Anxiety Guy's Blog / End The Anxiety Program - The Anxiety Guy give it away for free as a "bribe" and sell the rest of the course. Even if it's just $9.95 (but I would go higher).

Since you already have a page setup for coaching: Services - Life Anxiety Coach (you need to fill in the yearly fee) this will play off your program and increase sales of your program since people are seeing big price --> small price.

The absolute last thing you should be doing is giving it away for a "share". And you need to remove this from your coaching page as it will turn a lot of people off: 2015-04-04_1258 - MarkHess's library. Even if you're teaching some of that, it doesn't need to be on the page. People will think they already know what you're going to say.

    2) Add a money angle. Money solves problems whether it's anxiety, depression, self-improvement. You need to find either a product or CPA offer you can promote that will teach people to make money. (I know, I know, "but this guy isn't making money). You don't have to do this, but it works in this niche.

    3) You need to resist the urge to give away the farm for free. This only leads to frustration. When email marketing, you need to promote products. If people want content they can go to your blog or FB page.

Those are the big 3 I can think of off the top of my head...

I spent 7 years before I finally had ANY success, so I know how it feels.

The problem is you need to know how to structure a business and sell products.

Not to push something, but check out my free course on my website (no opt-in, commitment, or anything, just tons of free information), but it will help show you how to communicate your product to customers, and connect with them.

My thoughts are, from a design prospective, humans are naturally taught to read left to right in western languages, so we do that automatically.

When I land on your page my eyes are searching for meaning; two questions, "How is this page going to help me? How do I find the solution to my problem?" - my brain can't find anything that will lead me to that from your homepage.

Then, your customer will look at many other products along with yours - what's going to separate you, make you stand out, and make them go with you?

I'm thinking, "I want my anxiety gone - where do I click to get the answer to that?"... your page is very educational, but not necessarily effective to sell a product.

    Hello Dennis,

A disclaimer first: I am not a marketing guru nor have I much experience in this area. In fact, I've just signed up to Warrior forum today in hopes of learning how to make some extra cash. I have however, dealt with anxiety, so I offer my advice in the perspective of a potential customer.

I found your website to be visually appealing, but from a consumer standpoint, there were very little offerings. Case in point, I clicked on the image of a product in your supplements section, fully expecting to be led to Amazon so I can read reviews on the product, but was only lead to an enlarged image of the product. If you're touting a product, you should be making every effort to monetize it in my opinion. I would also try to reduce the amount of text before you see the products on that page as well.

Also, I disagree with the poster above that suggested adding clickbank products. I'm sure he's a very successful online marketer, and I'm just a newbie, but your target audience needs helpful advice, not some unproven product. This may be a case where quality can pay great dividends down the road. I think you're on the right path so keep working at it.

Additionally, most of all you need to sell yourself. You need to convince readers that you've got it figured out and it was due to your program. You have some good pictures on the site, but I would suggest appearing even happier; smile more. An appearance of confidence can do wonders in sales. Your writing comes from the heart but it needs to feel authoritative. I realize you don't "carry other badges and papers like today's mental health professionals", but it doesn't mean you can't sound like an expert. Consider having someone proofread and give advice on your articles.

Lastly, your response to Charles L. in the comments section of your My Story page gave me bad vibes. No need to make spats like that public. Even if you are right, you give the reader something to think about.

Again, I'm no expert, so take my advice with a grain of salt. I wish you and your family the best of luck as I think there is potential with your idea and you seem like people worthy of some good fortune.

Great advice, I will begin implementing these asap. As far as my site goes though, I have no idea what should go where. Opt in banner up top? There are two places to place them above the fold, the middle banner pointing to the right, maybe that should have my program? Any structure advice would be great guys.

Regarding profitability on what you're doing, I suggest that you do a market research for you to be able to determine the right niche for you. And you have 2 or 3 niche to start with and see which ones works best for you! It's all about trying and never giving up!
