Need help with my website !

Hey guys,

i have a Facebook fanpage and a Tumblr blog related to Cannabis.
So I made a website ( All about weed - welovetosmokeweed.com ) to make some cash. By now about 1500 different people visited my website, but I didn't even make a single dollar.

Can you please have a look at my website and tell me what I did wrong or what I could do better.

Greets from Germany,

Michael

Hello Michael. Welcome to the Warrior Forum!

I skimmed through your site, and it has a nice, simple-to-navigate design ...
As I understand, you placed your affiliate links in the pages of your site, which is your main monetization method ...

First off, you need to try and convert your viewers into mailing list subscribers ...
So, your opt-in offer can be something like a downloadable content material with the headline "17 Interesting Facts You Probably Don't Know About Marijuana" ...
Or a video compilation with the headline "12 Mind-Blowing Marijuana Recipes You Probably Haven't Tasted" ...

And, your homepage can have an attention-grabbing, enticing and compelling video about the value of your opt-in offer for your viewers ...

An attention-grabbing banner headline with interesting overview text in your homepage (for your opt-in offer) could also help ...

And, I think you need more engaging, interesting content for your site ...

For example, content about the history of marijuana is good and educational ...

However, I don't think your target market would find it attention-grabbing, interesting, engaging and compelling ...

So, how about "Interesting Facts About the History of Marijuana", where small snippets of interesting and controversial facts are displayed, one at a time, each time a viewer presses a "View Next Fact" button?

As another example, why not add controversial viral news and provocative feature stories about marijuana to your site on a regular basis?

Newsjacked content can drive organic traffic, especially if you also share your newsjacked content across relevant social networks and niche blogs ...

More importantly, timely and relevant newsjacked content can grab the attention of your viewers, keep them interested in viewing more of your content, entice them to engage with your content (especially if you ask them to leave comments), and compel them to share your content across their social networks (especially if you ask them to, and if you provide convenient ways for them to do this) ...

As another example, relevant tutorials, guides and so on could most likely be more interesting and engaging ...

These can be written content materials and videos about top marijuana recipes, tutorials and guides on how to grow marijuana indoors / outdoors, how to select the most suitable seed strains for various preferences in terms of taste and high, and so on ...

Well, I think those are the essential things that your site needs at the moment ...
Keep in mind that the main objective of your onsite and offsite content is to inform, educate and entertain your viewers; and
The main objective of how you package your content is to grab the attention of your target audience, keep them interested in viewing more of your content, entice them to engage with your content, and compel them to do whatever you want ...

And, you can use Google Trends, Youtube Trends Map, Twitter Search, BuzzSumo, What's Trending, SocialMention, SpyFu, Keyword Snatcher, Social Lead Freak, the Google Adwords Keyword Planner, the Bing Keyword Tool, and offline media sources like TV news and top selling offline niche magazines in your target areas / countries (like High Times if you're targeting the US), in order to do the following things:

    • Generate ideas for topics, news stories, keywords and so on for your opt-in offer, follow-up emails, onsite and offsite content;

    • Accurately pinpoint offsite locations where you can actively participate and contribute valuable content so as to strategically position your brand;

    • Identify online advertising platforms where you can promote your opt-in offer;

    • Identify the target keywords of competing sites in your niche for their paid search advertising and organic SEO campaigns; and

    • Formulate effective concepts for integrating the 6 scientific principles of persuasion into your opt-in offer, onsite / offsite content and ad materials (these persuasion principles are reciprocity, social proof, authority, likeability, exclusivity and commitment / consistency) ...

    Hope this helps. Cheers!

You have one page of content and the rest of the site is ads.

I would bounce off that site instantly.

You need something to engage visitors.

You do not really care about your audience it is obvious you are trying to milk them for cash.

You need to offer some real value. Help them get from point A to point B where they want to know the best weed, how to grow the best weed or even how to become a top drug dealer (I'm joking)

    Just help them move somewhere

From what i see your problem is in monetizing the website content right? if so, then let me tell you the best way ever to monetize a marijuana website.

As you know you can't use Adsense on the site because it's against there T.O.S so the best way is to use "Adistry" Adistry is a new ad network located in Colorado, specializing in the marijuana niche. They also accept advertisers and publishers in a bunch of other unorthodox niches ranging from tobacco to gambling. Basically everything AdSense doesn't allow for, minus adult content, and trust me it will pay off very well.

You can sign up directly from this link : https://adistry.com/publishers/

and please remember don't use Adsense! you will get BANNED eventually.

Or as another monetizing technique you can utilize the Amazon Affiliate Program to make some income from the site as well.

And let me know if you need any help.

Answer these questions and you will know why you aren't making sales.

      1. What value (to the customer) is your site? Anyone can go directly to Amazon and purchase whatever they want. What content, tips, articles, helps, and questions do you answer?

      2. What is compelling about your site? What do you have to "force" your customers to make a purchase?

      3. What do you have on your site to insure trust and confidence for the customer in making a purchase? Where are your testimonials from happy and satisfied customers of your service?

      4. What is on your site to engage and interact with the customer?

      5. Where is your "call to action" for the products you offer?

      6. What's on your site to keep the customer coming back? In other words, how do you care for the customer, help him/her to buy over and over again from you?

You're expecting to make sales but all you're thinking about is YOU. Put your customers and their needs first.

These are fantastic things to think about. I've had a blog about a specific brand of electronic cigarettes that I promote as an affiliate, but mainly I'm trying to educate the public at large on the safety of ecigs and how they really, legitimately and safely can be used to cut back or even quit smoking tobacco products.

But I keep running out of topics that haven't already been covered elsewhere, so I don't have a whole lot of content on it yet.

And I haven't set up an opt-in yet to start building a list because I'm not quite sure what to offer as an incentive - if anything - except to say something like 'Get notified when new posts are added.'

As for AdSense, the plugin couldn't get through verifying the site because I have an age-restriction plugin on the site to keep myself "safe."

I recently transitioned the blog to a responsive theme, but as popular as this industry is, I'd like to monetize it somehow, but without making myself seem like that's all I want. I really do want to help people transition to ecigs from tobacco or even, like with me, if they've already quit but are getting tempted to start again, pick up an ecig instead.

Not trying to highjack this thread, of course, but it's almost along the same industry; i.e., vaping, smoking, "illegal" as far as these personal vaporizers are being stupidly banned in so many places...

Suggestions anyone? About This Blog and LOGIC ecigs - Smoker's LOGIC eCigs

I was tossing around the idea of just putting a donation box on the blog. "If this blog has helped, please consider contributing..." But I haven't implemented that yet.

      QUOTE:
USA: Colorado and Washington state have legalised marijuana for recreational use, while some of the other states permit medical marijuana.
Peru: Possession of under eight grams is considered legal for personal use.
Portugal: It became the first country in the world in 2001 to legalise the use of all drugs, and started treating drug users as sick people, instead of criminals. However, you can be arrested or made to go into rehab if caught several times in possession.
Romania: Medical use is legal under certain conditions.
Colombia: Small amounts of up to 22 grams are OK for personal consumption. However, selling it remains illegal. You are allowed to grow up to 20 plants for personal use.
Costa Rica: It's a bit of a grey area. Cannabis is illegal but there's widespread smoking throughout the country. Police officers do not arrest people carrying enough for personal consumption, yet no amount has been outlined as a minimum for possession.
Czech republic: Possession of up to 15 grams for personal use or growing up to five plants is a police caution. Medical use of the drug on prescription has been legal since April 2013.
Ecuador: Having a small stash of under 10 grams for personal use is legal.
Jamaica: Growing, selling and using cannabis is illegal. However, the government passed a motion in 2013 to decriminalise the drug if a person was found with a small amount.
Netherlands: Cannabis products are only sold in "coffee shops" and possession of up to 5 grams for personal use is OK. Other types of sales and transportation are illegal.
Norway: In Norway, there is a sliding scale approach to cannabis possession. Less than 15 grams is considered "for personal use" and could see you fined between 1,500-15,000 kroner (£140 - £1,500). Carrying more is considered "dealing" and punished much more harshly, including jail.
Spain: Growing the plant on private property for personal use, and consumption by adults in a private space, is legal. But buying or selling any quantity of cannabis is a criminal offence. Possession and consumption in a public place is illegal and punishable by a fine.
Switzerland: Growing up to four plants is legal. But sale or transport is illegal.
Uruguay: A law has been passed legalising cannabis but won't into come into effect until 2015. The new law says that buyers must be 18 or older, residents of Uruguay, and must register with the authorities. Authorities will grow the cannabis that can be sold legal.
UK: It is illegal to possess cannabis.

Regardless of the legality of weed, the fact remains that the industry is frowned upon by many and the terms associated with it are black listed by many hosting companies to this day.

It's kind of akin to gambling. It's legal some places, illegal in others . . . but there are still hosts that will not deal with businesses related to the subject matter.

I'm not trying to talk anyone out of your plans . . . just saying that you will be facing some obstacles and roadblocks that are not present for other topics.

So that's a site you made? to me it looks like the default WordPress theme with some text and images slapped together, not really impressive or engaging.

I'd recommend hiring a web designer because it's pretty clear that design isn't you specialty. No amount of advice here will help you magically become a better web designer. Unless your willing to put weeks/months into learning coding and how to customize a WP theme.

    Just my opinion.

      Thanks for your feedback.

Yes, you're right. I used a wordpress theme and agree with you : I need better and more content.

But I don't think, that design is so important. I saw some pages, which are made pretty simple and still making good money. Of course they have better content.

I try to make this page on low budget. So I can't hire web designer, writers, etc.

Starting a website and building a business are two very different things, you can offer a lot of interesting information that people will stop and read, but if you don't know how to build a product line, and build the next step, where people cross the line from being readers if your site to customers, then you're not going to be able to make money off your website.

Unless it has old a lot of visitors and you can use AdSense, But even then it's not a guarantee, and in your case with the laws surrounding marijuana, Google probably isn't very helpful.

What you need to do is product model, and go from understanding how to write a blog or write articles to how-to build a business and organize a product line, and transform your content into marketing, where your content becomes something that promotes your products.

The trick is to make sure you don't turn your content into value lists sales pitches were all you do is try to sell a product, and you still focus on the quality relationship with your readers, and offering value.

For your next step, figure out how you can expand upon what you do - for example, you know your customers pretty well, and are probably able to think like them.

Figure out what kind of product you could offer next two educator help your customers further their knowledge or skills at something they're looking to do, And offer something where you say, "if you find this content useful, and would like to learn how to X, you should also check out my product, where I teach you x, y, z.

Just focus on hot offers much value as possible to your customers, and what you can give them based on what their needs are that they would want to purchase,

Then you just need to learn how to write marketing pages that offer that value and package in the way that looks appealing, and would make them want to purchase your product.
