Should i target my product by gender?

Hey Warriors!

I'm creating a Clickbank product at the moment for weight loss/life motivation niche. I'm sure most of the audience/buyers will be women, but not sure if i still should target it for women only (and maybe age?). Should it be for women, mainly for women? or unisex? And for any certain age group?

What do you think affiliates think about narrowing it down to smaller category? Do they usually have lists in this niche for women or unisex? What do you think it's the best way to make most out of it and get as many affiliates as possible?

Basically i guess what i'm trying to say is that if men go to page where they see reviews/colors etc are all focused for women will it affect on their buying decision. If women go to the same page do they feel more special about it cause it's targeted for women and maybe buy it easier?

And yup, i know it's a very competitive niche

Thanks,
Aleksi

If your program is absolutely geared towards women, then make that your target market. If it's not, and it's a program that men also use, then make it unisex.
      Hey Antonio,

I wouldn't say it's absolutely for women, but i think women will buy more of this stuff in general and that way be a better market.

Yup you are right. The copy is also a big thing here. If it's written for women only will it make more sales or am i losing sales by narrowing men off. Not an easy decision to do. Thanks for the replies

First off the weight loss is not a niche, it's a market. And a very big market. So determining who your weight loss plan will appeal to is a big thing. Why? Because you'll have to hit an untapped need not covered by every other Tom, Dick and Harry weight loss program.

What's unique about your weight loss plan (U.S.P), compared to the hundreds of others out there? Your answer may appeal to both genders or only one. The gap in the market you find (through research) should determine who you sell it to. Not hunches, guesses or even experience marketers opinions. That's your first order of business (getting your niche appeal right), because if you get this first step wrong, nothing else matters.

If it is gender specific, then yes. If it is not then no

A bar of iron cost $5. Made into horseshoes, it's worth $12. Made into needles, it's worth $3500. Made into balance springs for watches, it's worth $300,000. Your value is determined by what you are able to make of yourself

The more you target your specific niche, the more powerful your messaging would be. So if you're fairly confident that your ideal customer is a woman between the ages of xx-xx, then you should absolutely target them. After all, you can always run an additional ad for older/younger women and men too.

Whenever in doubt in marketing, be as specific as possible.

this niche is highly competitive but if you think your product will surpass those existing weight loss products online then go for it... general weight loss program for both men and women.

However, if I were you; I would focus on a definite group like weight loss for women aging 40 and above.

I would say target by gender the more specific
you are with your avatar the better.

There is nothing stopping you from having 2
different sales pages directed at different
    demographics

    leading to the same product

    Just something to think about

If your product talks about weight loss then I would focus on both men and women.

If you are going to target only women, make sure that you tell your future affiliates that this is what you are targeting.

A bulk of the Buyers Online are in fact Women. So of course you should do this and narrow down even more if you can do ages of these women.

The more narrow you can get, potentially the more money you can make
