Hi everyone,
I started getting interested in IM about 4 months ago.
I didn't know how to start making money online and was basically lost until I found a coaching program that taught me how to start making money online with Amazon Kindle.
I've had great results so far, just broke the 4 figure monthly income in 2 months with basically $100 of savings. I think Kindle is an excellent way to start making money online but I am trying to diversify my income sources.
I keep reading that starting an authority site is the way to go and hopefully some of you can clarify my doubts.
I am thinking of going into the Weight Loss niche because is a market where buyers are desperate for advise and results; it's also a huge market.
Obviously competition is huge, and I am passionate about that topic, but do you think is a good niche to start with considering the competition?

Also, I am a bad writer, so I was thinking of outsourcing all of the content to freelance bloggers, is this a good strategy?

I've heard product creation is the way to go, but I am not sure if product creation actually means digital or physical products. For someone living outside the US, it could be a tedious task to get into physical product creation.

Finally, I know this is a very subjective question, but is there really an opportunity to make a nice living doing this ($100k$200k) net profit per year?

Any additional info you guys want to add regarding authority sites is welcome!

Thanks!

I think weightloss is a great niche and one of the more popular niches that people get into. I myself have a fitness site that I have updated for 5 years and would consider it an authority site. However, it is not a big money maker. I have found most people on my site are "info" seekers and love the info but don't like to pull out their wallets to buy products.

Honestly I would try a different niche but that is just me and my experience. To each their own.

    Cheers.

As you told, you are doing well with Kindle and earning good income, then why not expand it further to another stream of income.

For example, you can use Amazon KDP programs as free giveways of your books and build your email list. You can further use email list to feed traffic to your new sites or affiliate sales or (there are many options)....

Expanding current model is better than jumping to new one.

Two things strike me here. First, if you're doing well selling Kindle books, then why not stay with Kindle, and just write more books?

Secondly, if you're determined to get into the weight loss niche, it would be best to decide on a sub-niche, such as weight loss for the over 40s, so as to become an authority with less competition.

Best of luck anyway, whatever you do.

The SEO in weight loss would not be that easy, but if you used a sub-niche, you could earn money from promoting affiliate's products - if you created 10 good affiliate sites, this should enable you to earn decent amount of money, plus the invaluable experience that you will gain.

You have lots of ideas but think wisely and do a lot of research before starting.
Weight loss is extremely competitve because it is general.
Having an authority site will make you tons of money.
To do this, you need to do extensive SEO research before even starting up.
Find a sub niche around weight loss e.g "burn belly fat for men" which has high traffic but less competition. When you confirm that there are affiliate products about that sub niche, do more keyword research to uncover keywords searched related to your niche.
Build an authority site about your topic with lots of articles, each article focusing on one keyword only but highly relevant to your sub niche.
Talk about this site everywhere, youtube, Google+, facebook, Twitter etc
Get useful and relevant high quality backlinks from related authority sites.
In no time, you will be the authority in a sub niche

I believe weight loss niche is very good niche.
If you are passionate about it then it will be much easier for you to work on it.
Don't mind about the competition, because every niche has its competition.
It is up to you on how you will stand out, that's why I think the best niche to choose when starting out is something you know you are passionate about, because the creativity and ideas will come out naturally.

The weight loss niche is a really good niche to get into. Yeah, it's competitive, but competition just means there are more opportunities to make money. All niches worth going after will have some competition. Here's a tip. The most popular exercise program (at least in the U.S.) was Insanity by Shaun T. There a tons of keywords you can use to promote that. Product creation can mean physical or digital, but I think that most people that make money online think the digital route. Also, don't get involved in too many things at once.

    Good luck,
    Joey
