What makes a professional Internet Marketer?

What do you think makes a professional Internet Marketer?

Personally, I think these 3 things separate an amateur from a professional:

1. Commits to learning more every day. Not learning for the sake of it, but absorbing information and understanding it.
2. Willingness to take risks. e.g. Create a website based on an inkling it could be profitable.
3. Takes action on what they learn.

I think it's the same thing that separates any amateur from a professional. The ability to see the details - the amateurs overlook.

Whether you're a general practitioner as opposed to a surgeon.
A general practice lawyer as opposed to a Trial Lawyer.
    or
An Internet Marketer as opposed to a Online Marketing Professional

One is trained to see more of the details of their specialty than the other.

    Plus,
    1. A professional takes pride in relentlessly improving.
    2. A professional does the little (important) things amateurs overlook or hate doing.
    3. A professional is the most adjustable, adaptable and flexible when it comes to getting the job done.

And finally most professionals today specialiize in a specific Niche. You're not just a lawyer ...you're a trial lawyer, tax attorney, corporate attorney. You're not just a doctor ... You're an OBGYN, a Pediatrician, an Orthopedic surgeon. And if you're a professional Internet marketer you should also have a niche - as opposed to ... trying to be all things to all people!

For me a professional internet marketer is someone who values their customers and see continuously find solution to every problem.

In short someone who provides true "VALUE" to their audience and customer. Sad but true, a lot of marketers out there are only after making quick profits and will take your money when they have a chance. A professional Internet Marketer see through long term and never resolve to blackhat tactics.

I think some of the ideas presented are reasonable and "nice", but don't really get to the heart of it.

IMO, a "professional internet marketer" is someone that makes their full-time living marketing online.

    That's it.

I think there are many, many people doing it part-time, as a hobby, trying to make some extra cash, etc. Still - I definitely wouldn't qualify them as professional internet marketers.

You make a good point. But I was under the impression he was asking for professional qualities. Not just whether you work full or part-tme. Because I've encountered many people who make their living as business owners, managers and internet marketers yet they were very unprofessional. Therefore, the qualities is the part most people have the most trouble with not the definition.

That's part of it, but I think you can be in a learning mode and still act or be professional. What do you think?
