How to create my own webhosting server?

Hello,

If you have any experience of setting up hosting server on your computer, please share with us.

I just want it for affordability as I want to host big eCommerce website's data feed.

And most of the hosting services are too costly to me if I opt for dedicated hosting.

Also, let me know I need static or dynamic IP addresses, recommend ISP for such types of commercial needs and other technical things also.

Thanks

You can't host content locally at home. That'll never work.
Why do you NEED a dedicated server?
    How much is "too expensive"?

Approx. $200/month is too expensive to me, if I don't have the confidence about the earning from affiliate data feed.

Home hosting is opening yourself to a world of pain, for the following reasons

    1. You need at least one static IP address, usually only comes from with business internet connection.
    2. Dedicated connection if you try to stream a film over your internet connection your site will be slow to respond.
    3. If your broadband connection goes down so does your site.
    4. A decent firewall is essential
    5. Hardware - if it's a big site you will need decent hardware to run it on, purely from a performance point of view a desktop pc probably won't cut it. So a server is required, that's not cheap
    6. Operating system - probably Linux can you hardened a Linux system, by that I mean make it secure.
    7. Backups - you will have to backup your site.
    8. Time either yours (free) or someone else (likely not to be free). Either way could be better spent promoting the site.

There are more reasons as to why you shouldn't self host, I could add more but hopefully you see the point I'm trying to make.

Why don't you go for shared hosting initially and as the site revenue grows look at migrating to either a vps or dedicated server. AS an example Heart internet offer such an upgrade path https://www.heartinternet.uk/blog/ar...hybrid-servers

As far as I know, Windows has always offered self-hosting functionality. It isn't easy though. You'll spend several days trying to get it set up.

    You'll need at least:

    1) An IP address that doesn't change every friggin' day.
    2) An ISP and router/modem that provides the proper port(s).
    3) Server software (See what's available in Windows)
    4) A domain name that you can direct towards a somewhat stable IP (or something like noIP.com services).

You'll also need to do your homework. There are so many steps involved that might sway your decision to do it, but if it's something that you really want to do, the good news is that it can be done for free with what you already have. (Again, I'm assuming you have Windows.)

Start with a reseller and work your way up to managed dedicated as needed

to many exploits if your running from your home pc it can be done, it's not really worth it it will cost more maybe even your pc. it only takes 1 bad apple to cripple your network.

You would need UPC cool area several h.d.d partitions SSD drives auto backups, seperate ip blocks. etc and a very fast internet connection.

there is a reason most hosting companies have servers in data centres not home based

If you really want to try checkout wamp on cnet but I would not try and sell this setup commercially.
