Health and Weight Loss - I have the product... now what?

I'm primarily a researcher. I followed my passion of living healthy and using food/supplements/herbs to achieve healthy goals, and I truly believe my methods are the safest and most effective for maintaining optimal health (with a side benefit of weight loss).

Word of mouth has been my best marketer (because I don't know much about marketing). People have just been feeling really good with my suggestions. Right now I'm living with my uncle, helping him and my cousin get healthy (they're my guinea pigs haha). They both dropped 8 pounds in 4 weeks, and that's just using my recommendations and working out lightly a half hour a day!

So I'm currently unemployed. I really want to do something with this, maybe focusing on weight loss since it's more promotable than 'general healthy lifestyle'. I'm thinking building a website, going on facebook, writing a book, etc.

Another idea I have is becoming a local 'lifestyle coach' and go to people's houses to help them achieve their goals, but I'd like to do something with the internet too because of the passive income potential.

My question to this community is: If you had an excellent health product/program, what steps would you take to capitalize on it?

Any suggestions will be extremely helpful! Thanks.

  • I would create a product around it...

Find other great marketers to colloborate with to help boost conversions..

Then list of Clickbank.JVZoo and hunt for affiliates

Well, you have to build credibility, that's the best way to do it. It's useless that you have loads of traffic but no one will trust your product.
So, try to brand it if you can by spreading the word, and also talk to potential buyers, convince them that it works, you can find buyers everywhere, on forums, on weight loss blogs, on Reddit like kushalshah suggested, on facebook groups, ecc.

no harm to try different ways as long you see some results.

That's the same uncle I'm currently being a personal trainer for (I live in his guest house now). I'm still trying to utilize different marketing strategies, but it's hard to bring in high-end clients to New Mexico.

Have you researched the market to understand what your prospects are looking for? Do you know where your best prospects are located?

It's always best to start a business from the "demand" side - the point of view of your audience. They will tell you what problems and desires they have and how you can help them (with your products). You will also find out where they congregate so you understand the most effective places and means of marketing.

If you don't understand the demand, how will you know if your product is going to help the audience?

Many inexperienced marketers bypass this step and waste a lot of time and money in developing a product that nobody wants.

                  Good luck to you,

                  Steve

        Great point.

Now what about locally? If I were to be a wellness coach or sorts, what would I do at the local level to become recognized. The only thing that comes to mind is to put brochures on doors in the wealthy communities.

Paid traffic is often a quick way to get some initial traffic. When this traffic hits, make sure that it sticks though, wouldn't want your investment to be in vain.

Other than paid, there are TONS of free ways to get people to come to your site.

If you have the patience then optimize your site for the search engines and keep publishing quality content. The search engines eventually catch up.

Here are a few ways of getting traffic:

      1. Guest posting.
      2. Add your site and it's pages to Stumbleupon.
      3. Comment on blogs (don't be spammy though).
      4. Forum commenting (same here, don't spam).
      5. Get in touch with people in your industry.
      6. Get active on social media (twitter, facebook, pinterest, linkedin etc.).

These are just a few that came to mind as I wrote this post.

This all-in-one thread on getting web traffic is a great source though!

      All the best,

      Karl

If you can prove that what you teach/do works... and have others saying that it works, then customers will actually find you. So, I would focus on building the credibility first... getting testimonials, putting out press releases, maybe getting interviewed by local media, etc. Build your authority site at the same time.

Maybe set up a YouTube channel on the topic, and also do podcasts.

    It often takes time though.

So, best way for you if can contact with the renounced seller sites like clickbank.com, clicksure, jvzoo etc sites. It will give you some wonderful selling. But for that you need to give some payment to the workers by them. But if you can also do direct marketing with the customers if you want. And by this You will get the full payment. I am talking for email marketing. At first create a landing page showing your product then bring some buyer traffic that will increase the selling rate 80%.

Also you can do targeted bulk email marketing campaign to expose your content more to the public to increase popularity. I have given some workers platform in this sector and they are promoting their self offers and earning a lot.

I'd suggest you to promote your product on Reddit and other health related forums and I am sure you will get a better response if your product stands you out from the competitors.

    How?
    1) Find threads that are discussing tips around your product
    2) Try to communicate with them as a user of your product and post positive things about it and recommend them in the end. For eg. "It worked for me, you should try it too!"
    3) This will attract them and make them buy your product
    4) After few months, create a thread asking for reviews about your product, ask them to share their feedback and try to implement suggestions they have (if possible)

    Hope this helps!

As Slade556 points out, credibility is the key in the health and fitness niche. One way to achieve this is to create authoritative content with plenty of proof and testimonials. Good traffic sources include helpful posts relevant forums and various outreach strategies such as guest blogging.

You'll need to develop and present a strong USP as this is a crowded and competitive niche.

Here is what I would do.

    1) Peel a piece out of it to use as "lead generation" content. In the content give links to the main offer sales page.

    2) Build a landing page to give away that content to build your list

    3) Throw traffic at the landing page. (facebook ads, youtube instream ads, etc)

Doing it that way lets you build your list and market to people multiple times about your main product.

It also lets you build credibility through the content that you're giving away. The method above is literally how I enter every niche and it can let you do it FAST.

But some questions for you ...

Is it just a single product or do you have a FUNNEL?

What you want looks like this:
    1) Main product you can sell for pretty inexpensively
    2) An upsell priced 3 to 5 times more than the main product
    3) For people that don't take the initial upsell, offer the upsell for payments
    4) Some kind of ongoing membership site or other monthly autobilling

That's a funnel. You said you had "a product" ... but just a product doesn't really let you monetize all that well.

You should also consider things like becoming an affiliate of one of the neutraceutical companies so you can also get paid on supplements as well.\

    Hope this helps.

Here is what I would do:

The part that stands out to me is the supplements/herb recommendations. I woud find a private label for these supplements and build a brand of supplements/herbs that target the weight loss crowd. I believe this is where you'll see the greatest ROI. You can generally buy these for $5-15 and sell them for $30-50.

Then, I would attach a blog to my site.. Which is easily done for you on most ecommerce platforms and fill it will weight loss advice, information, and workout exercises and routines.

Build and email list with that and funnel your products to customers and subscribers.

Here is the problem with becoming an Expert in Wellness.

It takes a long time to see results. Everyone needs to see results and obviously a person isn't going to loose 30 pounds over night.

I would suggest starting offline first. Get 5-10 people together. Teach them your knowledge for 30 minutes and record the discussion.

Upload to Youtube with the proper keywords.

      2nd step.
Do another video with the same group of people and lead them to take action from the original video.

      Upload it on Youtube.

      3rd step
Gather testimonials from all members of what they think so far.

      4th step.

create a website and put together a content from the videos you made.

      5th step.
Go deeper into the videos and explain further in about 50-100 page guide.

      6th step.
      Get traffic to site

      7th Step
Monetize the site by selling your article. Tweek the website to maximize sales.. test and test.

I can go further if your interested
