How to grow your EXISTING traffic by using your existing content

If your site has been around for some time and is getting LOW traffic (notice I said "LOW traffic" instead of NO traffic), here is one method you can follow to use your existing traffic to increase overall traffic volume.

If you're in the same situation, you can do the steps below and use your existing traffic to DIG YOURSELF OUT OF A DOWNWARD TRAFFIC SPIRAL!

Best Content Duplication Method

Step 1: Check out your stats.

Step 2: Go to MOST POPULAR PAGES

Step 3: Study your Top 5 most popular pages

Step 4: Duplicate your popular pages' success

Create content that is SIMILAR to your most popular pages but OFFER MORE information. For example: if your popular page talk about the basics of Pay Per Click marketing, a good SIMILAR PAGE would focus on how to increase PPC click through rates by knowing HOW TO PICK KEYWORDS WITH THE RIGHT INTENT

Step 5: Link from your popular pages to your new pages

Put links on your most popular pages to your newer similar pages

Step 6: Study your stats and Tweak to maximize dwell time/visit length/productive exit clicks

Check out your stats for a week or two - PAY ATTENTION TO VISITOR PATH and VISITOR LENGTH

Check out the volume of exit clicks.

If it is increasing, you're doing it right. If it isn't, you need to keep tweaking your similar content creation to boost exit clicks. This is crucial because this is part of your overall CONVERSION OBJECTIVE (the other is getting your visitors to sign up to your list).

Your objective is to KEEP your existing traffic on your site as long as possible so they can

1) Share your content on social media (You should have social buttons in place)

2) Learn to trust your brand more

3) Go through the KNOW-LIKE-TRUST buying cycle and sign up to your: mailing list or trust you enough to click on your affiliate ads.

4) Leave comments. I suggest you LISTEN to your audience and ENGAGE them so you can further add value to your audience members' lives

To your success!

Great point. Here is the step by step approach I use to REVERSE ENGINEER competitors' BEST content (according to social media shares).

Step 1: Use Quicksprout to load the site that has the content you wish to improve on

Step 2: Find the site's best content by clicking on the SOCIAL tab

Step 3: Get the correct file name and load the page to confirm social shares

Step 4: Study the content and come up with a better version.

How do you this? As Antonio points out above, you can BEAT THE COMPETITION BY VOLUME. Ex: they have a top 20 list, you come up with a top 200 list.

Alternatively, you can beat the competition with BETTER QUALITY. Focus on:
      updated information
      deeper / more cross-referenced information
      information with two opposing sides
      detailed how to
      embedding how to videos
      including how to infographics

Step 5: Go to Topsy to find out people who shared your competiton's BEST CONTENT

      Step 6: Find influential people

Step 7: Reach out to them through your social media account.

Since they already shared your competition's content, they wouldn't have a problem sharing yours too because yours is MUCH better than your competition's content.

      The payoff?
      Direct traffic
      Higher chance of getting backlinks

If you're a content creator, then you can easily use that content to drive tons of targeted traffic to your site just by syndicating your content onto the high ranking sites in your market (or niche)

Once you start finding syndication partners, who like and want your content, you'll never have to worry about getting traffic again.

And you'll be immune from any changes Google makes to its algorithm in the future.

The problem is, most people have no clue how to do content syndication this the 'right way' (and NO content syndication is NOT 'guest posting', like most people think)

Syndicating your content is the fastest way to becoming an authority in your market (or niche)

And if you're a content creator, isn't that what you want.
