#1 The only difference is a static front page vs posts.

2. I use Hostgator . I know this is controversial to say since they have really nosedived in customer service since last Summer ( acquired by EIG). But it has been no problem with me for last 6 years. But buyer beware

THanks everyone for the suggestions! I really appreciate your input and especially some of you listing the names of sites.

Another quick question. What is more important in search results. The name of the website or the SEO of the site itself?

IE: I have a website named movies.com but it talks about sports.
Would it show up for searches about movies, sports, or both?

I know that I'm not answering any of your questions but I think you need to consider some things.

1) How will your review site get traffic? Organic SEO means you're going to be competing against every other review site and many of them are well established making out ranking them quite difficult unless you REALLY know what you're doing.

2) What will be different about your review site compared to the thousands of others? Why would someone want to check out your site over someone else's? What will be your unique selling point that will make people want to read your reviews instead of others?

3) Will you be building a list in each niche? What will you give to people for signing up to your mailing list?

A review site is no different than any other type of site and you still need to consider normal online business things. What will make your site different from your competition, where/how will you get traffic, why should potential customers regularly return to your site instead of just continuing to go to the sites they already use/go to? Are you going to build a list and if so what will be the lead generator to get someone to join?

Hope this helps even if it wasn't at all what you asked (and all I did was ask questions to get you to consider how you're business will look)

3. You can make one site to do al your reviews if the content is very similar, if you're dealing with completely different niches (for example, dating, and weight loss) then I would separate each niche with a different blog site.

1 - I think it depends on how you want to layout the site. WordPress blog would be easier and quicker to setup.
2 - I agree with Brent - there are as many opinions as there are providers - this is easy to research with a web search. You can always move a domain name if you decide to go with another provider in the future.
3 - It would be easier to manage just one site and break the different niche reviews onto separate pages. If a particular niche grew large enough to warrant it's own site, you could certainly locate it on it's own domain, but to start it would be less expensive to have them all together to get a feel how each of the niches would organically grow. Perhaps you will find that you no longer wish to review a particular niche - simply remove the page vs. having spent the $$ for a domain.
