Hey All,

So basically, I've had my account for a little while but I'm actually quite new to affiliate marketing and making money on the internet, and I was wondering if anyone is able to help and advise on where the hell to start!

I'm a complete noob, I understand the terminology but past that I'm really not that competent, I learn fast and am prepared to put in the hard work.

A little background, I'm a 24 year old guy with very little money, working to live from one day to the next struggling even with basic things commodities etc, and at the same time trying to move to another country to be with the girl that I love, however it's a spanish country and I don't speak it fluently as of yet so I need to find a way to make money there.

I'm asking simply as one person to all of you, and humbly asking for your honest help and guidance.

All the best to you all.

David.

    Hi David,

How much experience do you have? What are your skill sets? You failed to mention that part...

If your a good writer there are many places to start out. If your a web developer then again there are ton's of places to start.

Start by letting us know what skill set you have, and how much knowledge you have on IM and we can better point you in the right direction.

Have you thought about teaching oral english to wealthy Spanish people, while you try and get the internet marketing business up and running, just to start with this way you can also get your Spanish speaking skills up a level... win win for both situations, Internet Marketing is not an over night fix especially if you are new, it will take time and dedication to succeed. Just a thought. Hope this helps and good luck buddy.

That's a great idea, but it's Puerto Rico, so I really wouldn't know where to find those sorts of people. Great idea though man! I'll have a look into it.

    Hi all,

    Thanks for the fast responses,

My skills to list them off are:

A little understanding of CPA / CPL marketing,
I can write written english fluently, and with the correct grammar etc to a fairly good level.
I can't program at all right now, although I am not adverse to learning.
I understand the list building concept but don't really know how to get started.
I am IT literate and understand all things IT fairly well (apart from programming)
I've heard of PPC and PPV, I've also read and watched a little on social media marketing.

Those are the skills on paper.

      Hey David,
Here is a breakdown to get you started, i.e the Essentials
      1. Autoresponder Service $19/mo
      2. Hosting for Sq. Page - $10/mo
      3. Domain - $10/yr
      4. Lead Magnet ( e-book, video, podcast webinar)- Free if you do it yourself

Of course, getting traffic which is the blood line of your business, is a whole other thing.

But these are the essentials you will need to have in place before addressing Traffic.

Also, I would have at least 5 Follow Ups in your Autoresponder already loaded before concentrating on the Traffic !

      Services work well,

Article writing since your writing is up to par. Remote computer help since your computer skills are above average. Also you may do what I did. Start an in home computer service business. This cuts down on overhead and you may charge more since you go to the client.

        Hi Rick,

I really like the suggestion of the IT services from home, great suggestion on services. Thanks a lot for the input.

    David-

If that is true, then get off the forums and go put in the hard work. Pass the inbound marketing course at HubSpot, read blogs and visit authority sites to figure it out on your own. If you're a fast learner, then there's no excuse why you haven't learned these things already if you've been lurking here for awhile.

I am indeed a fast learner but I am also one of those sorts of people that generally has to be shown things in a fairly practical way in order to learn things, before know I didn't really use the forums at all, just registered randomly quite a while ago.

I really appreciate the response though.

        Hey Dude,

Ever think about possibly partnering up with someone on a venture? Maybe you can get involved with someone that knows more about IM then you do and start a new venture. I actually have a friend that moved from NY to PR and started a tour company out there. She does well and deals strictly with tourists who speak english. I love it out there.

PM me and I'll tell you about her company if you're interested.

Hello, David. Well, I have a couple of things to tell you. First of all, depending upon the Spanish-speaking country you're going to, the exchange rate could be in your favor. I went to Costa Rica some years ago, and back then, it only took $1.00 to equal more than 300 hundred bucks in their currency (Colones, if I remember correctly). This was great if you chilled with the natives and went where they went. However, there were also lots of "tourists traps," where they knew the value of the USD. :-)

As for your money situation, you should still work on getting your money up, as they say. My friend and I met an American girl down there that couldn't get back to the States when she wanted because of the exchange rate. She had a job, but they were paying her in their native currency, so she was stuck for a while down there. I'm sorry for babbling - back to you. Anyway, you should consider providing a service.

Providing a service is a good way to make money online because you're paid via Paypal. One of the most common ways to go about this is via ghostwriting - doing some research and writing content for other marketers. There's a product called Ghostwriting Cash (.com) that you might want to check out. The course is inexpensive, and the product creator really knows her stuff.

    Buena suerte,
    Joey

Affiliate requires some capital these days (yes, there are exceptions to everything, but ...). Many (if not most) campaigns start out as losers for the first couple weeks, then are made profitable after tweaks and throwing money at advertising. And some never get profitable. You can try the free traffic methods, but ...

I wouldn't start affiliate marketing without at least $1,000 I could afford to lose. Don't be discouraged, though. You just need to hustle, sell some services and build up a little aff marketing money. I think it definitely possible to make that $1,000 selling services in a relatively short period of time.

While doing that, study aff marketing, ads, etc. Plenty of good info here, but understand MOST users here do not, and never will, have a sustainable online business. I like kk075's advice:

If that is true, then get off the forums and go put in the hard work ... Pass the inbound marketing course at HubSpot, read blogs and visit authority sites to figure it out on your own.

There is more than this one, but for aff marketing stuff, I like this dude's blog - he seems to keep it real:

    Hey David,

Good post. I looks like you have the writing chops, the smarts, and the motivation to get started with a number of business models. What I would do in your shoes is research. Specifically: find out what models are working for others and decide if you think you could manage them. What you then do is decide on just one model, learn all you can about it, and then take action, and don't stop until you either see a profit or, after a lot of work, see no profit in sight. At that point, rinse and repeat until you get a model that works for you. Scale it up and then start at the start, repeating the above process.
