Google News Approved Sites

Hi all, I have been studying flippa.com for some days and see Google news approved sites seem to be selling for crazy money. Does it mean Google news approved sites get instant traffic and the investors are sure to get their money back quick?

I see many of them without revenue going for $2000 and above.

Anyone with Google news experience should please explain. Do these sites once they get into Google news get instant traffic by posting 2-3 articles per day?

It takes some work and approval by Google to have a Google News Approved site.

It is not a super exclusive thing but enough of a pain-in-the-ass that it is worth a premium price if a site is already approved.

Your site will show in Google News results, but boosts in traffic, views and conversions still rely on the site, niche, marketing, etc.

They are valuable even without revenue because the new owner will/may have monetization strategies but just needs a site they can promote and rank easily.

Also, Google news approved is not permanent. If the new owner does not maintain quality and adherence to Google ToS, they could lose their "news site" status.

News sites show under "News" at the top of the Google SERPs.

      Thanks onSubie.

However, I find it odd that most of my traffic is from Kenya and Google analytic does not show traffic from Google news. Do they count Google news as Organic traffic or something?

And probably is on it's way to becoming a thing of the past as a quick search shows it is being "taught" as a GRQ method. This means much gaming of the system which G will probably not tolerate for long.

    News quality guidelines
Our webmaster quality guidelines cover the most common forms of deceptive or manipulative behavior, but Google News may respond negatively to other misleading practices not listed in these guidelines. Publishers who strive to uphold the basic principles of good journalism will provide a much better user experience and consequently likely enjoy better ranking than those who spend their time looking for loopholes they can exploit.

Many giant publishers are depended to the traffic coming from Google News. Google News sites are capable of receiving thousands of unique visitors per day from highly target keywords. By publishing more articles you will be able to receive more traffic, which means more revenue at the end.

I have a site that I post 10-12 articles on every day. It gets circa 35k visits per day. Not overly impressive considering the niche - football/soccer niche.

However, whats more worrying is the quality of the traffic. 70% from Kenya, South Africa, Nigeria, Ghana. Those countries are poor for my revenue.

Also, I have checked several times but never seen my site appear on Google news except when I use site:mysite.com.

      What could be wrong?
