I use GoDaddy for most of my domains, and Hostgator for hosting purposes.

  • Yes, I have used this combination for over 10 years with no problems.

    • I have used GoDaddy and Hostgator for a couple years without any issues and they meet my needs. The customer service for each is satisfactory.
  • This is also a great combination for AFFILIATE marketers.

Many marketers give away FREE EBOOKS along the lines of 'How to build your site quickly'

The guides step the reader through the process of getting a domain at Godaddy and a hosting account on Hostgator.

The links are cloaked affiliate links, of course.

The rest is pretty basic: Wordpress set up, free theme selection, theme customization through cheap Fiverr services.
  • I use both for both always Godaddy for domains.
  • I personally have gone away from both. HostGator had some major issues over the past 1-2 years and many have migrated away from them. And I find NameCheap to be more economical for me most of the time. My 2-cents.
  • I tend to stay away from HostGator. I tried using them to host a few domains some years ago, and I had nothing but problems. I haven't used them since.
  • That's what someone recommended to me when I first got started, so that's what I've stuck to.

  • I've heard a lot of people badmouth both of these companies, but I've had zero problems with either of them - so I keep using them.

I don't care if they think it sucks, it works fine for me.
  • I've been with Bluehost for years and recently upgraded to a bigger package with them. Their customer service has been great whenever I've had an issue. I've called them about things they really don't have to take care of for me--not fully under their umbrella--and they've at least made an effort to fix the problem.

Around Christmas a couple years ago I had a hack of my main corporate site. BH did what they had to do to get the job done, and based the hours I can tell you they took a bath on me.

BH and Hostgater are owned by the same company up the ladder. That doesn't seem to have made a difference from my experience.

I use Godaddy as a registrar and have had zero issues with them.

I have heard very good things about Liquidweb hosting over the past couple years.
  • I think this combination is okay. However, I'd advise against GoDaddy hosting if you can (their hosting tends to be quite slow at times).
  • If you have more than 6 domains, HostGator/GoDaddy is your best bet. Otherwise, Namecheap is the way to go. Less than $20 for both a domain and hosting for a year.

    • I have 9 domains at the moment.

Basically, I feel for domains, it's usually either GoDaddy or Namecheap by far. I'd prefer GoDaddy since more people likely have an account with that company due to more exposure.

For hosting, it seems to vary a lot more.
  • I also use both. Hosting is the heart of any website/blog. When entering into the blogging business, the most suggested place to register your domain is GoDaddy. No doubt, it is the one of the best when it comes to domain registrations.
