Website Advice For Health Insurance Agent!

I friend of mine is a health insurance agent who paid $100 a month for 4 years for an inter-active website that allows you to fill in your information and comes up with quotes from several companies.

I offered to build him a 6 page ws for $1200, and he asked if it would be interactive.

I said not for that price, but that I would find out what others website designers are doing or recommending.

So if you have some advice or know how much someone else paid for a health insurance website, please let me know what you think.

Jim

if you're friend is looking for cheap people then go to elance.com for online virtual assistants. I usually get guys from the indian area. Incredibly cheap yet good, honest and hard workers!

Let's look at it from your friend's point of view. What he needs is a steady stream of people asking for quotes - he needs leads!

If he really wants leads, he can offer a free report "Top 5 Things Every Person Should Know About Health Insurance." People give their name and email to download the free report. The pitch for the report is "Don't even think about buying health insurance until you read this report." After visitors get this report, then he invites them to request a quote.

You can outsource the tech stuff and the report writing. I use rentacoder.com myself.

This is my offline method and works good. The client can use it in their print ads to give them more leads then ever.

I have no agenda but to help those in the same situation. This I feel will pay the bills.

What is your friend trying to accomplish? And what does your friend mean by interactive? Sounds like he's been using the same old, same old lead generation methods that have agents competing with each other for leads. A blog can be interactive, and might actually be a good idea - adding a personal touch to his/her marketing - but I doubt that's the idea he/she has in mind.

Would your friend like to gather leads for himself (or his agency) or does he/she prefer to share leads with other insurance agents? From what you've written, it sounds like the previous site gathered leads and those leads were shared with other brokers/agents. If that was the case, if you build your friend a site/blog with an autoresponder to gather the necessary info needed to give a quote, the agent will be ahead of the game. Show him/her how to drive traffic to it and you'll have a happy client.

The commission generated from selling insurance is high. If you show your friend how you'll be able to build a site that will get him/her exclusive leads - he/she will be able to see that the site you build will be a better marketing tool and will generate higher profits.

Just a word of caution, though . . . a lot of insurance companies are paranoid about compliance, and not very receptive to direct response marketing. If that's the case with your friend's company, it might not be worth the hassle to get approval and might not be worth your time, regardless of the price.

    Thanks everyone,

I have the same ideas, but every now and then you get lucky and ask a question and an expert see it and reponds. Maybe it's someone who's niche is insurance agents.

They may say that interactive websites do not work.

I belive they would all agee with m2d about a capture page.

I sold insurance for 20 years so writing the content would be a breeze.

If I were my friend I would much prefer to speak to the prospect immediatey, gather information and build repore, and call them back with the results.

    Hi Sheila,

Great questions, I'll answer between quotes

"What is your friend trying to accomplish?"

He knows he needs a website simply becasue most agents do have one or have an affiliate website that plugs in their name and address, but he was hoping to have a site like he had that worked. The leads are only for him. He is a broker for many health insurance companies, and pays about $1000 a month on the yellow pages and his phone is not ringing as much as he would like.

I imagine with what the govenment is attempting, if his FREEium might be an agents perspective on "the future of Health Insurance" or completely ignore it and just try to sell policies until there actually is a drastic change.

"And what does your friend mean by interactive?"
He was sold a system that would generate local leads and the software would load what ever companies he wanted up to so many and spit out a monthly premium based on the prsospects answers to their interactive form. That's what I mean by interactive.

I don't think my friend would blog, but he probably would pay a little for a ghost blogger.

I told him about our "sales processing system" (autoresponder)

I will tell him your words of caution and find out if that is a concern. If not I will proced.

    Thanks Sheila

When I say interactive this is what I mean

Dallas Health Insurance Company : Affordable Health Insurance in Dallas Tx : Individual Health Insurance Fort Worth : Online Health Insurance Quotes Plano, TX

I went out on the net and found a site I know he would like.

I went to the designers site for pricing but the page was still in progress.

What broker in his right mind would not like this site?

Where would you put the capture as a fad in after 20 seconds?

Hey Jim. I have been in the insurance business since 2002 and still own an agency. This script (the example site you've shown) is a Norvax based quoting script. Norvax is actually very robust... It takes the data from people that fill out the information and inputs them into a CRM program that the agents can use to run quotes. It also sends out auto-responder messages, sends out quotes, and updates rates as the carriers change them.

The best solution I have found is to tell the agent to keep the Norvax, but build them a custom, optimized site (the Norvax sites are template based, so you can create a much better site for him). You can incorporate the Norvax script into virtually any site.

If you'd like additional information, please contact me.

    Thanks Josh,

Any idea how much norvax wants?

Do they sell the script or lease it?

Are you talking about both sites or the last one I submited?

I got a follow up email from the last one, didn't complete the info on the first one was more detailed.

Norvax is a monthly subscription fee. Their pricing varies based on options, but it's in the neighborhood of $100-$300 per month last time I checked. Based on the amount of time savings in running quotes, it's worth it for most agents.

The only site I looked at was the one you just submitted; it is definitely Norvax.
