Yes skoomar, you can.

You can blog in your own language.

Take times to learn english. Take a class.

Read a lot of english books / websites (preferably news website).

Write what you love.

Block an hour a day of your time to write. write and write.

Your English in this post is much better than a lot of others.

Your age has no bearing on your chances - 40 is quite young after all. If you can't write very well, and do not have a firm idea about what you want to write about - probably blogging is not your ideal choice. If you have money you can pay other people to produce articles - but I would look at something like affiliate marketing, selling physical goods from Amazon, eBay or your own web store - have a look through this forum and investigate other online business options.

I suggest that you keep your job until you can at least match your current income with your blogging income. That is of course unless you have no one depending on you to put food on the table and if you are 'on your own' you are willing to live on bread and water.

It is a miniscule number of people that can generate a liveable source of income through blogging.

People telling you that you can do it may be correct, but they have nothing to back that assertion up with other than pie in the sky platitudes about 'believing in yourself' and 'anything is possible.'

It does not matter one iota to them if you starve to death. Trust me.

Keep your day job while you test the waters and be sure to have a Plan B. Many people dream of being a successful blogger. Most experience the nightmare of abject failure.

That's not negativity. It's honesty splashed with a dollop of pragmatism.

I am 40 year old .I want to quit my 9am to 5pm job.I want to be a full time blogger ,but my English and writing speed is poor.Can i become a successful blogger at this age ?please i need good suggestion.

You are asking the wrong question - and people are answering by telling you what you want to hear.

Your age has nothing at all to do with anything. Online - no one knows how old you are - what color you are - what your gender is - or whether you are handsome or ugly as dirt. None of that shows.

Your English is another matter. If this thread is an indication - your English is not good enough to be a highly successful blogger IF YOU ARE TRYING TO ATTRACT ENGLISH FIRST LANGUAGE AUDIENCE. That might change if you have a unique selling point or an outstanding product but that doesn't seem to be the case here.

If, however, you are writing in your own language...and you have something to say - you could do well with a blog.

Some will say this is "negative" or "unfair" - no, it's realistic. There are too many good sites and blogs for anyone to stay on a site that makes them uncomfortable due to misuse of language.

The vast majority of blogs out there make little to no money, even with well written content. Those that do make money have typically been up and running for years.

While it is theoretically possible to replace your current income with a blog, it is exceedingly unlikely that you will do so. If you feel that this is something you want to try anyway, go for it! But do it as a hobby or side business until you become a success, if that time ever comes.

Yes you can, but try to find a job and work on your sites at your free time. When you feel secure with your business and you start making some decent money you can become a full time blogger.

There's a need to correct some things written about John Chow - a friend. John was born in China and emigrated to Vancouver, BC with his family at 8 years old. you can make the blog in your native language...and with it learn english...and after learning u can do it properly..u can also be a successful blogger in your native language...so only if u have the mind set then do it...success will depend on your blogging quality not your language...thanks..

You can very well become a GREAT blogger, given the determination and grit to crush through any hurdles that stand in your way.

The only limitation from becoming a good blogger is yourself.
All the information, training, and mentorship is out there (mostly for free).

take it step-by-step, don't try to learn EVERYTHING before starting (this is called procrastination).

Take massive, yet imperfect action and learn as you go.
Accept that it will be a fun challenge.
Marry the process, divorce the outcome.

As a native English-speaker, I have o say that your English is not as bad as you think. Also, blogging is not about the speed at which you write. It is about the quality of your content and building a following. Also, if your native language is common, you can write in it. Writing in your native language could be a good thing because it allows you to stand out. If your blog is one of the few blogs in your language, people that speak your language will automatically come to your for whatever information you provide.

Your age doesn't matter. I am going to be 44 this July and this wouldn't stop me from trying out anything new. You are generation X like me that have Baby Boomers for parents.

I know about (3) Baby Boomers who have just learned how to blog over the last 2 years and they are not only blogging, they are actually making money.

Don't ever put fences on your potential or sell yourself short.

As others have said above, your English isn't bad and it has room for improvement. The more you write and read, the more fluent you will become.

You could also choose to write in your native language for that target market.

Well. You mentioned here that your writing speed is slow, it does not matter. If you write 1 month daily, your speed will be increased. so the speed is a lame argument. You also mentioned here, that your English is poor. Yes, it is very important. You can learn the Language by practicing. By doing practicing, your Skill will be increasing gradually. Most of the people of the world are using the English as a second language. So you will be able to use the language also. Best of luck.

Yeah you can become a good blogger. You have to put in the work and market (and monetize it) if you want to make money from it. Don't let your age get in the way. Find a niche that you can cater to, and let your blog serve as the "destination" to be at in your niche. Consider put Google Adsense and affiliate products on your blog too. Or if you know how to create info-products, promote those on your blog too.

Certainly everyone can be a good blogger if they only write about what they are really good at or their area of expertise.

A blogger fails in most cases when they try to focus more on earning money then writing genuine content and providing useful information out of their experience and domain/vertical.

You said your english is poor, you didn't said that you "don't know english". I suggest you should start blogging about what you are good at and use english as your language so you have a large audience to target.

In a short answer, yes.

There is really no age to start blogging. You can blog about anything you have genuine interest or expertise on. However,if your english is horrible, consider hiring people to proofread your content or write it for you all together.

Being a good blogger won't help you make money, if that's what you're asking. Being a good blogger and great at generating traffic and monetizing it, now that's more like it. There are people who write well but couldn't drive traffic to their websites even if you put a gun to their heads (like me), and there are others who are mediocre at writing, but great at generating leads and sales, so who cares their writing skills are mediocre? They're making money, aren't they?

Age has absolutely nothing to do with it, if you will become a successful blogger or not is all up to you: your writing skills, your ideas, how you manage to keep up with the changes and the new trends and so on (for instance, a big issue for many website owners is making their websites responsive).

I suggest you keep your job though, start blogging on the side and see where it leads, you're gonna need some time to gain popularity with a new website.

Wow don't let that get in the way....to an 80year old you are a baby,,,,,just remember that...and who knows you might live that long so here's to another 40years of perfecting something. Was the pope born the pope? Did a flower just appear? NO - these things became what they are now from something else....the only person that gets in your way is you...you can do anything just start somewhere and watch it grow,,,,it is the natural momentum of things....but you must add to it regularly just like a plant or flower needs regular nuturing. You will become an expert over time.Pick something you like to write about and go from there you have nothing to lose.
