New CPanel Web Host Needed - Alternative to HostGator

Good day,

I saw a closed discussion on this, so started a new one.

Unfortunately, HostGator is dead to me. I have been with them for a few years now, and had switched from HostMonster. The service with HostGator has been horrible lately, as well as their support. Unscheduled maintenance's happen all too often, and I am constantly told there is a problem with the server I am shared on. They have moved me to a couple different servers though. The policy of one free month if they drop below 99.9 uptime is a nice gesture, but doesn't help when I am losing a lot of money from lack of sales, and paid ads across the web. Even still, the support reps often do nothing about it and will not offer anything, and even when I ask for a manager or for the case to be escalated, they ignore that I even asked it and then reply that "the system administrators are aware of the issue and are doing everything possible to resolve it as quickly as they can."

I do recognize the danger in asking for personal opinions here, as we will likely see replies from affiliates and biased posts. Please, please be respectful here, and only post non-biased, quality performance and fair price based options.

I don't mind a shared hosting plan at this point because my conversion is high and the volume low, and with caching, my site is fast enough for me at this time. I just need good hosting options and server performance at a fair price, CPanel, backups, support, and very good uptime.

Please post your personal recommendations and how long you have had them. A simply google search for the top 10 of 2015 will likely reveal biased affiliates. Thanks.

I've had my fair share of downtime issues with HostGator. Although I'm still paying for Hostgator due to a few small sites still being run on them, I have moved over to BlueHost and now using their VPS. Haven't had any issues and a number of marketers who I'm friends with have been in this industry for years have always recommended BlueHost.

It really depends on your goal, whether you want to stick with shared or VPS. I guess the main benefit is less prevention from being hacked or blacklisted and you'll have your own IP but then again... it really depends on what you're doing.

But as far as this topic goes... BlueHost is my next recommendation :-)

Try webhostingtalk.com to see if you can find a better host. I left hostgator back in 2012 and moved to a affordable VPS host. Best decision I ever made and I found them on webhostingtalk.

I'm with TMZvps.com hosting right now. They seem to be very good.

Bluehost has the same owner as Hostgator, EIG.

I recently switched to hawkhost and so far I'm happy.

I've recommended JaguarPC many times over the years. I have used their shared hosting, VPS and now a dedicated server. I have never suffered significant down time (and by that I mean never had an issue where I could not access my sites for more than a few minutes and even then only once or twice in the past 10 years).

Excellent support, prices are reasonable and they are very dependable. I started using them back in 2003. I have also used other hosts but like these guys best.

Take care using these so called "review" sites. They usually rank the best returns for (their) affiliate sales highest then place a link.

      The reviews aren't worth squat.

Personally I have used Shock Hosting, very good value and no problems. No axe to grind, just Google it.

Depends on what type of hosting you are looking for, if you are desire a VPS system then I second JaguarPC. I have used them for a few years and think they are very good and fast with support when you need it.

Agreed. Stablehost is a very good host.

Their support is timely also. They reply to support tickets usually within about 10 minutes.

Thanks all. I just spent over an hour chatting with a SiteGround rep, and he answered every question promptly and honestly. I was impressed, so signed up to test with some personal domains first. If it proves out, I'll move my business domain over. Before signing, they did provide a few sites in accordance with my limited specs of Wordpress ecommerce with WP Super Cache, and I was pleased with the results. Nevertheless, I was disappointed to hear that they do not offer a prorated refund should you cancel after 1 month. Not cool. Here's hoping!
