Added RSS to my website

Hi,

I update my site regularly and till now I didn't have a way to tell my site's visitors that the site was updated.
I finally thought about an idea which is to add RSS to my site.
The visitors subscribe to it, and every time I update my site they can know about it.

I will be happy if you can check my feed and tell me if you like it.
What do you think about using this RSS as a way to update my visitors?

    Not good whatsoever.

    Consider Feedburner, or FeedWordpress (http://feedwordpress.radgeek.com/wiki/install/)

You can use RSS to update your subscribers, but you have to direct/lead them to it - and encourage the signup.

I don't want to aggregate RSS feeds from others sources as the link you gave,
but I made my own feed, please read what I wrote...

I underlined the part that will trip you up...
RSS feeds are good. I like them for a lot of reasons but as a general rule, visitors DO NOT subscribe to them.

Life would be much easier for the web site owners of the world - if they did. Unfortunately, it just doesn't happen much in the real world.

First, to read a news feed, the visitor needs an RSS reader that periodically either 1) checks the feeds to see if they have been updated, or 2) accepts a ping from the feeds when they have been updated. That news reader can be installed on their desktop, or the visitor might subscribe to one of the services that Randall pointed out.

To aggregate, or not, really isn't your decision to make. The visitor decides whether or not they want to subscribe to a given feed, and unless they go with a desktop reader (also rare these days) their only option is to subscribe to one of the aggregation services so that all RSS feeds they subscribe to can be delivered to them through a single interface.

@Sid Hale thanks for your answer!

I personally subscribe to several useful RSS feed, so I can get only the updates without the need to visit the site if it wasn't changed.

I think that for my online conversion site it will work quite well because visitors can always use the old conversions and visit the site also if they find a new conversion that they find as useful.

Correct me if you think I am wrong...

Good for you... but if you mean that you have a desktop reader - you are in the minority.

How do you deliver notifications to your feed "subscribers" so that they know when YOU have updated your site?

If you use one of the aggregators mentioned above, they will notify your subscribers for you.

Also, because they aggregate from many sites, many people will search on their site for feeds that might interest them. It's a way for people who have never been to your site to find out about it, and yet another way for them to subscribe to your feed.

They don't automatically send every RSS feed they have aggregated. They simply collect them (if you submit your feed) and then will take care of distributing your feed to anyone who has subscribed. All you have to do is notify them every time you add a new page/post to your site. They will pull in your feed, and then distribute it to anyone who has subscribed.
