I outsourced my first kindle book for $70 for a 7000 word kindle book and it only came out to 20 pages. I thought it would at least be 24ish, but I wanted to price it at $2.99 I'm not sure because of the length it is worth that now. The book does contain value though.

if your content is solid this should be worth it! i have seen many ebooks with more pages but nothing useful on it.

The key words here are "should be".

In the Kindle space, page count is a factor. At $2.99, you can often get around that by highlighting a "short, no fluff read", especially in non-fiction.

Nick: Why not let the marketplace decide for you? If $2.99 is too high, you can always drop it to $0.99 later. You've already sunk the cost, and you might be surprised.

If you sell the eBook under your own domain and using your own sales page, you can get away with charging a lot ($20+). On Amazon, you're pretty much limited to $2.99 or less (people typically won't spend more than this on a Kindle eBook).

How well is it written and would YOU pay $2.99 for it? (imagine it wasn't your book, but someone else was selling it)

I'd say you should think about these questions and you'll know your answer. If the content is good and informative, then you have nothing to worry about. If the person who wrote it didn't do a great job.. well... that's gonna be an issue.

Hi Nick, when I first started, I like $2.99 because you get 70% commission. However, I quickly found out that at 99 cents you make more money. Sales are just massive. This can help put you in HOT NEW RELEASES area. Most customers are sensitive on price. However, I also found out that people expect to get a lot of content for 99 cents and even an interesting crisp concise 38 page e-book got poor reviews. People asked for refunds saying it was too short and that hurt me. Try to add a lot more content and not just text, but also images. Please remember that we are not back in the 90's when color pictures were expensive. Expect to see an increase in awesome reviews.

These days it's not enough for a book to contain some value.

Is the topic a hot one that people are actively seeking?
Does the book answer a burning question?
Does it solve a critical problem or pain that many people feel?
Is the book credible and does the author prove his/her authority?
Is the title one that stops people in their tracks?
Does the cover look professional and not like a homemade D-I-Y job?
Have you promoted the book yourself? Have you done your part to get the word out?

Readers have nearly unlimited choices today including many great free ebooks on just about every subject known.

Your book must be something special that stands out from the crowd.
