Does giving out review copies sabotage a sales thread?

I personally don't give them out, because I believe they ruin a sales thread. When I read sales threads that have reviewers in the first few post's, it kind of turns me off. A lot of the threads I see, never have any more comments after the review posts. Paying customer reviews can do wonders for sales, but does free review copies ruin a sales thread? Has anybody had any real success because of them?

  • We give out free copies when the product is not yet fully launched. The feedback from the people who got free copies of our product help us improve our product before we fully launch it. So yes, this helps us a lot.

      That makes alot of sense, but I am talking about the actual reviews on the thread. When people post free reviews, it's almost like a paid actor? Maybe I'm just making much ado about nothing
