Hiring a permanent writer?

Hey guys,

I'm trying to hire a writer to maintain the content on my health based authority site. But not sure where to look.

I don't want content mill stuff, I would rather just have one go-to writer that I can rely on to push out 1 or 2 quality articles a week.

I tried Elance and the quality health writers are asking for about 4x the amount I'm willing to pay.
Stuff like iWriter and other sites like that just produces garbage content.

I'm willing to pay around $50 - $100 for 1500+ word articles, as long as it's A+ quality.

Any other resources I can try and find a quality writer?

Try the warrior for hire section here.

Make sure you check portfolios out.

Always ask if the writer will guarantee revisions.

You can find a good mid-range writer closer to the high end of your budget. I'd personally charge $150 for a highly engaging 1500-word article, but you can probably get decent content for $100. Not "A+" level, but still "good enough."

I wouldn't count Elance or oDesk (Upwork) out. There are definitely capable writers available in that range.

This is a highly competitive niche, which is probably why writers know they can afford to ask for more than what you're offering.
So, either be prepared to negotiate or keep looking.

I completely agree, because it's ultimately not just the quality of writing you should be concerned about- it's also the actual information being shared. And since most writers in your niche with specialized knowledge will either write for major publications (out of your price range) or stay busy with other clients, it can be hard to find the right match.

I do agree with others though, Elance/oDesk (they're about to merge) are great options or try a job board like ProBlogger or Creative Circle. Freelancer has drastically improved with their top-end writers as well.

      Good luck with your searches!

Finding quality writers on oDesk/Upwork or Elance, is very challenging, I have spent lots of money testing many writers on oDesk. There are some, but it can be costly and time consuming to find one.

Have you tried iWriters? If you do, go for expert status writers only.

It depends on the quality you are looking for. You might get lucky on the Philippians Craigslit site. Prices will be cheap, but you will have to check for quality.

Thanks. I think your budget is good. So you may get top level write. To select the top level writer, you should see the previous work history & feedback of the freelancer before hiring. If you see the freelancer work history, then you will be able to decide the quality of the work. There are many freelancing market place. You can use any site. such as Upwork, elance, freelancer or other site. It is not important which freelancing market you use, but it is too much important which worker you are using. Is he skilled/ expert ? Thanks.

Consider hiring pre-med or undergrad/grad students majoring in related specialties from local universities. You can examine their writing ability through term papers, thesis, projects etc. This is an extremely competitive arena, so expect to pay them well, preferably on an hourly basis for research and writing articles.

iWriter has very good writers if you choose only A+ ones.. Even with lower lever workers on iWriter I got great quality articles with no grammar mistakes, 100% unique and it was well put together.

Or you can find some local english teachers that can do the job for you.
