Newbie Tip: The More Descriptive Your Title, The More/Better Answers You'll Get
If you need help here, you're essentially advertising for help.
Your Thread Title's only goal is to get the attention of people who can help you.
Unfortunately, here are some of the thread titles that have been recently posted here:
- Have to know somthing
- Can I do this?
- A Few Silly Questions
- help please
- Newbie question
- Stunned and confused
Don't get me wrong, I've posted vague thread titles for specific reasons before, but not when I'm trying to get a question answered.
If you don't learn this most basic fact about targeting and getting the right people's attention (here, in your own online promotions, and in life in general), your odds of success will remain drastically lowered.
To sum up: Whether or not you found this post useful personally, you at least knew exactly what it was about when you chose to click on it. Now pay it forward. Which brings me to the real reason I'm posting here; I wanted to ask you, do these jeans make me look fat?
Edit/Add: The 2nd problem: Titles that list a topic but don't indicate whether the post is asking for help or providing tips, etc. Example:
Subject: Affiliate Marketing
...Yeah, AND?...
- Do you need help understanding the concept?
- Do you have a successful example you want to share?
- Do you need feedback on what scripts/affiliate networks others use?
- Did your cat paw at the keys while you were away and that's what it happened to type?
Again, provide more info, especially if you're hoping for help.
