How long does it take to build traffic?

I have no advertising budget, for now, so let's say I'm gonna use free traffic tactics like guest posting. How long would it take to build that traffic and actually convert it into sales?

What's your experience like?

And also, should I invest in paid advertising or is it possible to rely on free traffic means for my business (blog)?

It really depends. I know this isn't the answer you're looking for, but it highly depends or your skills, your methods, your niche, your topics, how well you write your content, etc.

Traffic will always cost you either money, time or a combination of both. As you have no advertising budget it will cost you time, and will probably take time as well.

First off, you don't NEED to use paid traffic. It's totally optional. There are lots of marketers to make 6-figures and never invest in paid traffic. Secondly, building traffic is an on-going process. It's not like something where you start and stop, if that makes sense. Thirdly, there is no way to know how long it will take YOU to build traffic and convert it into sales. However, the quickest way to do so is to have some infrastructure in place.

For example, find out which social media sites the people in your niche frequent, and build a following. The larger your following grows, the more traffic you will get whenever you put out new content and send your followers to a link or whatever. Think about it. This is what Youtubers do when they sell shirts and stuff. In addition, you could focus on doing other search engine optimization stuff to get more traffic from the search engines, too.

Totally depends on the niche. If it's something like a funny image website then I would say pretty easy... You can easily get traffic into those by doing some social media promotion. If it were something like Debt or Health then I would say it's harder because the niches are more competitive and don't do well on as many social platforms.

Start building links and continue adding content.. You'll start seeing traffic within a few weeks most likely. The amount will depend on the niche and how much content you have out there.

Depends on where you guest post, If you can land a guest post on high traffic blogs then it will definitely bring traffic to your site in just a couple of days once the article is out.

If the article that you created is good, then you'll even have a better traffic since the owner of the blog can leverage their social media platforms to distribute and share it even further.

It is also good for SEO in the long run however personally I wouldn't do guest posting primarily because of SEO.

It all depends on type of strategies you implement and most importantly your Website should have quality content and has to be interactive.
Its better to use PPC services and I would even suggest to start a social media campaign to increase Brand Awareness..

Guest post = Instant traffic. But of course it depends where your post is being published and what are the traffic stats of the blog.

Social traffic, traffic from forums etc. is (mostly) instant. The moment you post something cool, you see traffic coming your way.

As pointed, paid traffic is optional so you ca rely on free traffic and it will grow overtime provided you stick to your methods like glue.

Another good free option to get traffic is by creating a book and uploading it on Kindle. There is an option there where you can give it away for free on the next 7 days.

That's a sure way to get traffic.

    This all depends on you!
it could take a few weeks, it could takes months or more, it depends on your own efforts. You need to be consistent and do your best to reach out to your target audience.

One of my successes on generating traffic and making sales is from an optimized review site that funneled free traffic from SERPs in less than a month of launching it.

Forum posting also made traffic and sales to my own product within 5 days of participating in this forum.

All of these were from free traffic. I did not use any paid advertising.

How long does it take to build a house ?

See where I am going with that

You can build traffic in the next hour with paid methods or you can build traffic over the years with labor intensive tools i.e SEO and Article Marketing
