I have manuscripts for a couple of e-books ( collection of poetry), but if I'd release them now, they'd be just blank pages with black words written on it.

I was wondering where you can get ( free or cheap) layouts done for your whole book creating the kind of atmosphere you prefer.

Many thanks.

You can get it outsourced on a freelancing website or you could try Fiverr. There might be people on here that could provide these services as well. You could go down the route of creating them yourself, I've done that before. I'd recommend Adobe InDesign.

Thanks, I think I better outsource it so the focus is on the words. To me the atmosphere is the most important thing. It shouldn't take much time and should get done at a low cost.

      Odesk.com is your best bet.

The designer can give you an ebook cover, template layout with your design on which you can paste your poems and compile all those html/word pages to an ebook.

Thank you. Do you have any specific links that offer an easy to follow step by step guide?

How can I sell it afterwards? Lulu? Amazon,....Anything to watch out for?

If you have MS Word or the free Open Office you can easily create any type of atmosphere (format) you want. There are any number of free book templates that you could use. It's very simple and you will save yourself an outsourcing fee.

I use Scrivener for all of my books, they have a 30 day trial that you can use.

I'm not very familiar with Kingsoft Writer, but I know it's very similar to Microsoft Word, so you should be able to insert some nice images/templates withing your pages, you don't need to outsource it if you know your way around the software.

Yes I can insert images, I found out how to do that, but afterwards: how do I turn it into a book that looks better than just some A4 pages with black letters on it? Can I choose between smaller and bigger pages and stuff?
My poems are mystical so I'd like to display that type of layout.

That's the point where I am stuck. Scrivener looks nice, but is it easy to work with? What exactly does it offer? How can you go from dull kingsoftfiles to a wonderful looking E-book? What does it add to your own personal limits?

PS downloaded scrivener ( free trial) and don't understand anything of it even after reading guidelines and stuff.
