"Pizza Delivery Location" offline marketing that brings results for clients?

I'm looking to get into the offline world and start getting some clients and I often read that people say they've made their clients extremely happy by helping them rank high for their location phrase, 'Pizza Delivery suburb' .

Now the skeptic in me or my limited thinking is saying does this actually help the pizza client make money? For me I know where the pizza places in my local suburb are, don't you? Why would a lot of people be searching for it?

Please help me to see how it will help them, I don't want to be selling an seo package to someone who's not going to benefit from it.

Just a quick look at Google Keywords will give you some idea of what's happening as far as searches go.

In my area, even though there are tons of pizza places, there are still well over 800 searches a month.

Don't forget that "locals" aren't the only ones that search for pizza on the net! Travelers, vacationers, etc. are also pizza eaters.

So few local businesses are attacking getting onto google page one that it is indeed a fantastic revenue stream for you to help them - not just pizza restaurants...

there are also social media solutions for them too - just google 'naked pizza twitter' and you'll find a great article on techcrunch on one pizza restaurant success story using twitter to the max!

Have fun getting into the offline business - you won't regret it!

    Cheers, Maria

Tell that skepticism to hit the curb if it's keeping you from making you and your clients more money.

Tons of people search online for "coupons" and "promo codes" for local pizza joints
so if you've got your client #1 ahead of the competing sites,

they're the ones those searchers will order from.

    More orders, more money.

    Hope this helps!

For offline businesses, simply ranking high in the search engines is not nearly enough anymore since google maps has been exposed.

Don't get me wrong, google maps is great. It just won't give you the pizzaz that it once did when you present yourself to the business.

Now it's also having your site completely mobile ready and functional. Even giving a way for the customer to be able to hit a button and it connects to the business establishment to complete an order via mobile.

You can also add to your service SMS mobile capibilities that will connect to local mobile phones in that area rending any online cupons that they have to offer.

Check the advertiser competition for the keyword. If it has traffic and there are lots of advertisers then its most likely benefiting someone.

    Hello,
Potential customers may do a search to see if there are any coupons for that
    food establishment.
I check and I am sure others do as well.

All good points but being one of Marias and Chris Negros students
I have a better questions for you in my area most pizza places even the big names are independently owned and some don't have much money. So how much revenue can you make working for an offline Pizza client? How much do they spend on advertising? Think bigger.
    Good Luck

thanks for all the great replies. It would seem because of Google Local Listing that it is not as effective as it once would be for a client just to get them on top for the location search. I guess you have to think bigger than this these days

If I can add my two cents here...

It's about so much more than just getting them onto the Google search pages. It's about adding more profit centers.

Using the example of the pizza parlor,...

His pizza is a profit center
His beverages are a profit center
His appetizers are a profit center
His desserts are is a profit center.

If he's a 'creative marketer' and he's used his pizza box and a flyer on it to sell ad space to other businesses, that's a profit center. As is any ad revenue he could make from selling adspace on placements within the establishment if it's dine-in.

      Now, apply to a website-

PLR ebook, videos, sales of a 'make your own pizza' book.

your right about that. Thanks Marcus I actually haven't read that much about people going the extra step other getting them ranked for their location and charging them a lot just for that.

This is a very good thread.

I was searching for a way to promote Twitter to restaurants and the article that sweet Maria referred us to is just what I was looking for.

My next question for all is, Is anyone selling Twitter service to restaurants?

I would like to read or watch a tutorial on the steps to follow.

How does one propel a businesses listing to the top of google local business search? Is it via the same means for organic SERPS? Having this distinction will be greatly appreciated.

Try ranking a maybe 20 or 30 press - releases on google, it's funny but people believe press release and have more trust in them than websites.
Also if you use a press release company, and you have good SEO skills, your get it on google faster than waiting for Google to rank your website.
I truely believe I can make more money with 100's of press-releases ranked on google than websites........I have seen this work big time in my own life !!

There are some great points brought up here in this thread. One important one is the advertising budget of a pizza place.

I have found that they do not usually have huge budgets, and like most businesses these days..they are cash poor.

However, the use of social media can play an important role. I have a person that works for me that sells, and also works the social media aspect of my business. I don't use twitter so much, but facebook seems to work really well for us and for restaurants. I have one customer that has a restaurant upstairs, and a lounge downstairs. The lounge numbers were off and they were looking to shut it down. They had entertainment 2 nights a week but they were having a hard time getting the word out....a facebook account and 400+ fans later...they are packed more often than not on those nights, and has now seen an increase in other nights as well.

Offline is not just about google search results(for me), its about getting RESULTS and increasing sales. Yes, part of it is getting seen online by having a good ranking, but helping them convert visitors to customers is even more important.

Its not all seo. Its no different than IM, and getting people to your sales page...if your copy sucks and doesn't convert into sales....who cares where you are in the search results.
