Hi, I would like to create a header and would like some free images or graphics.

Is there any sites which images that I can use?

You might try dreamstime.com There is a free images tab at the top after which you can then search for your subject. You'll need to read all the fine print to be sure it's allowable for your use.

It is nice site for images, is it necessary to register go get images from this site. If you think better kindly guide me. any how thanks for site.

do a search on google for royalty free images and you will have a long list of sites

Stock Photography: Download Free Stock Photos & Royalty Free Images images are maybe .25 per image and they are all professional pics...

Good resources all that were listed and I also found thefreesite.com for all sorts of FREE stuff including links to other good FREE picture and clip art items. The question I always had was does non commercial mean I can't use it on my Affiliate Blogs or just that i can't resell that picture or graphic?

In case you need images from US Goverment then you can search on

Many image sites are there, you can give a Google search to find them. You may try out flmsdown.net than wallpaper.com they have good collection of images. And they are free to use.

Whichever company you chose be sure to read the license agreement. It's often the case that there are limits on the usage on images and the number of times you may use it per license.

With istockphoto (which I like to use) you need to pay them EVERY time you use the photo.

I second that. Be careful.

I use Bigstockphoto. Nice collection of pictures. They do have some free ones but if you pay $2 per pic you don't have to worry about a lot of limitations, etc.

You have to be careful because some of these "free" photo sites prohibit commercial use of their art. The ol' hippie geek anticapitalist angle.

You have to be careful; some sites don't allow for commercial use of their images. All of the sites here do.

My two cents in the search for images:

Here is a WP plugin that gets you images from Wikipedia and other sources.
Zemanta WordPress › Zemanta WordPress Plugins
It works with Word Press as well as for other blog platforms and also for putting images in gmail if you download is as an add-on for your browser.

stock.xchng - the leading free stock photography site is also my favorite source for free stock images, but if you want really really free, you have to find public domain images.

Here's one source: Public Domain Pictures, Free Pictures, Royalty Free Stock Photos

And as someone already pointed out, if you need image for templates, go to Big Stock Photo Royalty Free Photos, Download Stock Photos and Images Stock Photos Royalty Free Downloads
