What Activities Actually Makes You Money

In the past 3 years we have all witnessed an explosion of Social Media sites. Facebook, twitter, youtube, etc...

No crap, whats the point?

Here is the point. We do so much "busy work" making friends, posting comments, watching video's, posting to our blogs, and more everyday.

Question:

How much time a day do you spend doing these activities? Probably a few hours.

There are two ways of actually making money.
1) Sending e-mails to your lists with links to buy your products/services
2) Talking on the phone to perspective buyers.

How much time a day do you spend doing these two things? My guess is probably 0-20 minutes a day.

So for 20 minutes a day you are actually spending time to make money.

Friends and a huge following are nice but it does not get you paid. I though I would take a minute to share this with you fellow warriors.

    eBay for certain.

Affiliate marketing to a smaller extent. Working on ramping that up.

    busy work because its fun
all work and no play makes jack a dull boy

if i had to choose between friends and being wealthy, I'd choose friends.
That doesn't mean you can't have both though.

  • Maybe those are the only two ways you make money, but I assure you they are not the only ways of making money. If your site attracts 1,000 visitors a day and you can't make money in other ways besides spamming your "list," you're a straight-up fool.

I don't "send e-mail to my list" because I despise spam and refuse to do it to others. On those days when my sites attract a fair number of eyeballs seeking what I offer, I make money. It's much easier for me to sleep doing it that way.

You really don't understand social media and marketing. If you beef up your follower counts just to inflate your ego then yes this is pointless.

However if you build a targetted following, say people interested in new cd/dvd releases, shoe lovers, discount/deal hunters, etc. you can make bank without even a huge following.

Why not target getting a following of buyers? Doesn't matter the niche, there are buyers there, I don't see how this is crap.

Writing. I don't do affiliates yet. I get a steady income from writing articles and I'm happy with the results.

I think success really depends on what you want to do with your online business. And I have to agree that social media isn't crap, you can capitalize on web 2.0 sites to get your business out in the market.

Thank you for all the rsponses. The reason I put this post out for the fellow warriors to read was to get your response.

I was just "taught" that (only 2 ways to make money) and it did not feel right to me either.

I do agree with spending a lot more time getting caught up in social media and adding a ton of busy work.
