Are you missing out on the beaches, lifestyle and perks of IM success?

The four hour work week.
The work from any beach in the world lifestyle.
All the moolah you care to have at your fingertips.

Are you missing out?

Because many experienced marketers/copywriters would have you believe so.

Set it and forget it. Automatic profits. Money while you sleep.

I'd like to let you in on a little secret, OK?

I've known many wealthy people, rich men and successful people and I can't name a single one who
A) Doesn't love what they do
B) Work their butts off
C) Do nothing to keep the money flowing in

I DO know some second and third generation bums who live off of daddy or mommy's hard work, you CAN find them on the beaches when you visit.

The most successful of Internet Marketers spend a lot more time than most imagine working on their business, a lot MORE TIME.

I raise this point to give you an opportunity to question yourself as to why you come to the Warrior Forum and what is your "end game"?

You'll find many roads to success here, in many different directions, and you may also find some dead ends and have to do some back tracking.

You'll find many shiny objects which can distract you. You'll see many signs for SHORTCUTS which promise to be your yellow brick road to fame and fortune.

And you bring some baggage with you in the form of habits, expectations and a lack (in some cases) of knowing anything about business.

Business is an EXCHANGE of value between entities.

Most success will ask you what you plan to give, and most newer folks haven't got a clue.

But if you come here with a clearly defined goal of what you want, an idea of what you are willing to GIVE to get it, and you have or acquire a foundation on which to build, some amazing things can happen, and in some cases very quickly.

So, I ask you a question, what do you want and why?

Cause if you can answer those questions, I think you will find some high quality answers here...and if your questions are all about how you can get yours, about making money, about the shortcuts to the beach lifestyle...

well, you're going to get those answers too, and, perhaps, you get what you ask for (or deserve).

Are you missing out?

gjabiz

PS. And if you don't know what you want, you're here to explore possibilities, that's great give yourself some time and READ, don't buy, simply immerse yourself in the pools of the forum and soak up as much information as you can cause then you can find a way, a method, a means which suits you because one size does not fit all. Take some time to get custom fitted for your wants, needs and desires.

I came to this forum because it's the biggest IM forum out there and since I'm fairly new to the game, what better place to "cut your teeth" so to speak.

Anyone who says IM is easy is definitely just trying to sell you something. Don't be fooled by the "Magic Bullet".

Building an IM Business is no difference when building an offline business. You have to work hard first and build your business so you can have more free time and do whatever you want.

Tim Ferriss might have sounded it is easy to build an IM Business however if you reread it again he just simply stated that doing a 4-hour work weeks is doable. He didn't say it's easy.

I don't believe in the 4 hour work week for the average person.

But I do know that if you work insane hours every day for at least a good 6 months, you CAN build a business that carries you while you beach hop. I've launched projects that have paid my bills for 4+ years, with barely any day-to-day work except for answering customer emails. (Thank you super affiliates.)

And I've done this twice in my internet marketing career.

(As a result, I currently live 15 minutes from several fabulous beaches in Miami!)

It's really a matter of finding the right niche and selling the right product at the right time. When all the components are lined up, you'd be surprised at how easily things fall into place.

Not surprisingly, it's almost impossible to predict what's going to be this kind of 'set-it-and-forget-it' winner. But if you don't think this kind of success is possible, you'll never hit the mark anyway. Expectations play a huge role in what is possible.

I've always believed that I was a beach hopper, and opportunities continue to present themselves for me to continue this lifestyle.

You really just have to try your hand at a bunch of different things and see what works -- which is why you have to be committed to working an insane number of hours for at least 6 months.

Actually I'm not even too sure how long I can carry on the beach hopper lifestyle. I enjoy the flexible hours that IM career brings and I might be able to take "mini vacations" more frequently than having a conventional job but like a plant, your business needs constant attention and care to grow. I usually feel like my life is lacking something if I take a too long vacation.

To make money online, you don't need to work your butt off. You have to test all sorts of things to see what works best for you. This will take you some time. Will you have to go through a lot of challenges and setbacks? Sure, but at the end it is all worth it.

My "end game" is having total freedom to really concentrate on the things that mean the most to me in Life

Some people want to play this game to buy big expensive toys and material tings.

Never cared for any of that. Its all fleeting.

      I will indulge in "experiences"

  • Yes, very true.

No matter how successful people become, their are passionate about what they do, they have vison, and therefore they just prefer to make magic happen in the world and in their business.

However, it's great that the beach lifestyle is available, and you can stop everything and live of passive income. It's more important to have that option, then to actually live that

Since we're giving out advice here about working hard . . .

As you commit to serious effort, focus, and labor in your business I would offer a word of caution.

This is a journey and who and what you are remain paramount to a well rounded life. Your family, your friends, your moral ideals, your health . . . should take priority. There is always time for business after the important matters have been attended to.

I've never heard a successful business man or woman lament the fact that they wish they had spent more time away from home and important relationships - it's always just the opposite.

        Steve

But the thing is if they had spent more time with family and friends they wouldn't be successful.

        You cant have both.

          Stolf,

I respect your opinion, but I say you can have both.

What are we in this business for? Certainly not to work harder or longer or more dependably than we would a normal 8-to-5 job for an employer.

Most folks come to this IM career for the freedom and the ability to control what happens in the business. If you fill up your free time with more work, what have you accomplished?

If all you're looking for is never-ending work check out a job with the federal government.

Funny !! I like the connection you made.

And it is a good point at that. I hear people in this business complaining sometimes about the monotony of being on the Computer etc..etc..

And then you think about those construction workers on the side of highway. That tends to bring you back down the Earth and realize why you are doing this

Yep - agreed with most of what you say. Especially in the first few years when you are learning the ropes, building your business needs to be an all-consuming obsession which does mean you have to have a passion for some aspect of what you do or you simply will not last.

That said, once in a while I will take advantage of being my own boss and take an amazing vacation with my family to the Caribbean or to Europe, or make sure I am at an important family function.

But that is the exception - not the norm. That's ok as my business, serving my markets and learning/improving is a huge part of my life - wouldn't have it any other way.

Freedom! I think this is the end game for most of the people who want to pursue IM'ing. And by freedom, I mean free schedule (not worrying that the boss will yell at you for being late), the freedom to spend your own money how you see fit (not worrying about which bill you should skip paying this month 'cause you can't afford to pay them all), freedom to be yourself!

This is exactly why you need to build a business - not simply "make money on line". Way too many folks really don't understand the difference because they have immediate needs. Short term solutions for long term issues - like a mortgage payment

Very little about this business is "rocket science". But almost ALL of this business is about self-discipline. When you come from an employee life, the transition to self-employment (or if we're lucky - entrepreneur (and yes - there's a difference)) can be daunting and scary. We like to think we can make this change easily, but then we're hit with reality.

Family time sacrifice is part of the process. Having an understanding family will certainly make it easier. I know I have an understanding family. In the early days between my day job and trying to build my on line business, I slept an average of 4 hours per day, and watched pretty much NO TV. And I also missed out on family stuff. But the reward is that NOW, we're reaping the benefits. Family time every single day, nice vacations every year, a couple of long weekends for me and my wife every year...and having the financial freedom to not worry about this months (or next month, or the month after that) bills.

If you want it bad enough, you'll find a way. Trust me - I'm not all that talented, or creative. Yet here I am. It just took me longer than it took some others.

I came to this forum a few years back , because i wanted to get rich quickly and clear my debts.
I figured out soon enough that there isn't such a thing as quick riches and being lazy at the same time.

now fast forward 7 years later , i have a good life now , working full time and spending my evenings doing IM. although it hasn't made me rich yet , i consider myself richer in the mind.. you cannot believe the things i have learned here.

So for those desperate....consider Warriorforum the best and mostly costless IM-university there is , with a lot of great teachers !

And you'll find most of these fast lanes have people in them who found their way to "fast money" usually by slow hard work.

      This being said.

In IM there is the "launch" method, an idea developed by a small group of marketers who use contests and their lists of buyers to come up with some very large sums of money in very short periods of time. Some of those in the inner circle of these launch parties got started right here.

      Fast money...IF...you have a list

a LIST of buyers who have the money to buy a higher priced product. A scaled down IM version of a launch is a Joint Venture (JV) where you could send out emails to someone else' list. Pretty quick cash flow IF you have something the list will buy.

OFF LINE...a full page ad in USA TODAY, NY TIMES or in GOLF Magazine could give you very large chunks of dough in a matter of hours...IF

IF your promotion hits at the right time and you have the right target audience.

Examples: John Reese takes credit for the first million dollar DAY in IM, and the affiliates got half, the product costs and expenses taken out left John maybe a quarter of a million dollars pre tax profits.

That is getting rich quick...after John spent several years before this learning and testing.

Bud Weckesser at Green Tree Press rec'd almost a million dollars in a week for ONE ad which was placed in AARP Magazine. His net was also over a quarter of a million dollars, again very fast money...
after years of learning his craft.

Gary Dahl. who recently passed away, is remembered for his Pet Rock phenomenon who made his million in less than a year.

So there are examples available for getting rich quick and maybe as high as 10% of those are FLUKES, non replicable...with even the first guy often unable to come close to his winner...

and there are 90% examples of people who got rich overnight...after years to the grindstone.

There are ways to bring in large chunks of money very quickly, but you almost always find a big IF in their stories of getting rich quickly.

      gjabiz

PS. But there are ways to "hook up" (like a JV) which can make things quicker and smoother IF you find a compatible JV partner.

A round of applause to you GJABIZ, I loved reading this, because over the years I have been distracted by the shiny things....

So often people make Internet Marketing sound so easy.... and while I only work 8 - 5, I could work 24/7 and never run out of things to do. There is always growth to achieve, and lessons to learn.

Biggest problem I see people having is this:

You don't stick with an idea beyond about THREE DAYS.

Then you run off and get distracted by another shiny object.

Three days! What can you get done in three days?!

Growth is exponential, but even if it was linear, how could you expect to grow anything within three days? A plant doesn't even grow to maturity in that brief time!

It takes commitment, energy, repeated effort and return to work when you just don't feel like it to be successful.

Day after day, month after month, year after year.

    And CONSISTENCY.

Every time you hop from one thing to the next, you go back to zero.

    Think about that.

    Back to zero.

No credibility, no collateral, no reputation, no content, no nothing.

Think about someone who's constantly hopping jobs every few months. It takes at least 3 months to get known as "the person who does X". And you keep changing it--so you never get known as anything except that person who can't keep still for five seconds.

Almost any idea can work if you tweak it enough. Stick with an idea for at least a few months. Don't jump on the next shiny object or believe some automated tool is going to do the work for you. That won't happen despite the sales copy. It's YOU who does the work. And if you're not ready to work, then you're not cut out for being a business owner.

Hey I've been living the IM lifestyle and traveling all around the world for about 3 years now, it's definitely doable if you set up tons of systems and processes and teach your team to yearn for the sea, which Ive been doing since reading the excellent E-Myth by Michael Gerber i think. Also learn to delegate everything.

This said like someone mentioned above if you are passionate you are going to come back to work even if everything is set up to push your business further (there is always something to be done).

I guess the real 4 hours work week life is when you have grown a solid startup, sold it for millions and you can sit on a beach drinking pinacoladas.. but its likely you'll get tired of that and will start investing back in other business after a couple weeks doing nothing.. My 2 cents.

Working feels great anyway when you do what you love, who really wants to work 4 hours a week? : ) Just make sure your work fits your lifestyle and you'll be a very happy earthling!

Great thread by the OP, some much needed clarifications to the elusive 4 hour work week lifestyle.
