Frustrated want to give up

Hi Guys

I have a list of about 8k people in an education niche (not a technical one).

I am getting about +450 people on my list per month.

Something must really suck because I sent out a 30% off offer and made only 80 USD in sales... and thats just 2 sales.

2 sales from 8,000 people?

For the campaign email I had 724 people open the email ... and 46 clicks.

I didnt discuss price in the email.

Any ideas?

I'm thinking of sending out another offer tomorrow for 1 month for 7.99 USD (I am selling subscriptions) and mentioning the price as a selling point

But I dont want to spam too much

Any ideas??

How do you educate people to value the offer you bring to the table?

What emotional buttons do you hit?

Do you talk about BENEFITS TO THEM or service/product features?

Do you have emotional 'trigger' headlines?

Do you SEDUCE the reader to action or do you just drop a bomb on them?

These questions lead to answers the lead to better results.

I have a large list to and get very little orders from each email I send. It is very frustrating.

Its hard to give accurate suggestions without seeing your copy, knowing your demographics, etc. That having been said, the low amount sales possibly means you need better copy or you're targeting with the wrong product.

I'd suggest really getting to know your demographic. Study them, understand their habits, what they want, where they eat, where they sleep, you get the idea. Think about it, only 746 out of 8000 opened your email. Figure out why the other 7254 aren't reading your emails. Odd's are you fixing that one bottleneck will increase your open rate thus increase your sales.

Remember, always embrace failure with open arms. It is only through failure that we learn to succeed.

How did you acquire your leads? This may be the MAIN reason sales are low.

Have you considered that it may be the market demographic you are targeting?

Not exactly sure with your description of "educational niche" but there is a very well known email marketer that talks about his first failures being in an educational niche focused on college students.

Are they targeted people? Do you just send them to buy stuff or you also provide them value? Where are your people from? Maybe you aren't sending your mails at the right time.

You said you are getting 450+ new subscribers every month, so maybe the first hundreds joined 10+ months before?
Have you deliver content to them regularly?

How did you acquire those leads? Do you provide a lot of value to them or just send them promotional materials?

One mistake as a list builder is people think that the size of the list matters when in fact, the relationship and trust will bring you sales.

^ I agree. Without seeing the actual text you're sending them, it's difficult to say if it's good or .. not so good.

Writing such emails is an art, actually. You need to put a lot of effort into finding these people's soft spot, that's not an easy thing to do. So, don't give up just yet!

I think your problem may be in the people who are on your list. If on average only 700 from a possible 8000 are opening your emails then, they're not paying much attention to what you have to say or offer, as less than 9% are opening your emails?

You conversion of 2 sales from 46 clicks is fine, as that represents about 4% and that's something you can build on. The issue must be about list QUALITY, so if you can attract the right audience to subscribe to you, have a good relationship with them and make offers when the right product/service comes along then, you could start scaling up your online business.

I was watching a few video on YT recently from a top IM called Matt Lloyd and what he says makes perfect sense. Not just about list building, but about your own mindset and that of your subscribers.

    HIS POINTS

    1. Focus on the quality of your list
    2. Send them emails nearly EVERY day
    3. Offer more expensive BACK-END products
    4. Always be in SELLING mode!

Like most other things in life, it's a numbers game, so if they're NOT stacked in your favor then, you have to change things.

Are you and educator or in the education niche yourself. You need to know what there wants, needs, and desires are.

The way you get the leads and the demographics matter a lot. If you are not targeting the right crowd then the number of leads don't matter.

  • 2 Sales Out Of 46 Clicks Is A Good Conversion Rate...

That about 5% on a $40 product That's actually a great conversion rate.

You just need to drive more traffic to that sales page, and add upsell, downsells, etc

How many active people list do you have? Most of the time, fake or, unused LIST may have. How important your product is? To increase your sell, your product need to be the top level good & need to be better than others. It need to have an attraction by the followers. As you have a good list, you may gain.

I just read the first answer and I think that it might be the key rising your conversion. I had an experience with an email marketing campaign and we develope a nice and high quality content marketing strategy, we had great experiences as feedback and our negative response as spam or opt out was very low.

Focus on content quality, find your customer pyschological and practical needs, give them content that it's useful and appeal to their needs. Make them know why your product is valuable for them.

    Greetings.

Question, do you like your niche, or did you choose it because you think there is money to be made in?

If you like your niche, don't give up, just edit your style. Tweak and Tune your program, your way of communication a little, until you find the right button with your prospects.

If you don't like your niche. Stop and put your energy in a niche that you like.

    Good luck.

    I think conversion depends on:

how the list was made? single optin or douple optin
what is the niche? some niches convert better than others
how many people are opening your emails?
how much your subscribers trust in you?
are you always trying to sell them or provide them some useful free info too?

So you actually got 2 sales from 46 clicks, which isn't bad.

    Keep building your list.

Hey Jake my best advice would be to survey your list before you send out any other offers. I do find these conversion rates a bit low, they could be improved. This said you have a pretty big list, so you should do well once you understand better what they want.

Just send a nice friendly email.. offer them an incentive to complete the survey.

Email title: I need your help

Body: "Hey there, I wanted to create/curate some cool educational related content for you but before I do, I need your help..

I'm not sure what would help you the most... can you help me by filling out this survey..

    [LINK to google docs survey]

When you complete it you'll get a free [insert freebie]. That's my way to say thank you bla bla bla"

You can swipe my survey here, simply make it relevant to your niche (here is an alteration of the same survey we used). With a list that size you should get 50-100 good responses.

From there you'll have a much better idea of what content your list wants. What you want to do then is to create some free content based on what they want, and then sell them something that relates to it.

In terms of sequence I recommend 3 emails with free content for one promotional email. In my experience the more free value you give the more sales you get.

    My 2 cents : )
