Who else hates to write?

Writing is my weakest point. I'm like a deer in headlights when i have to do it. I'm best at graphics.

I also do not enjoy the writing aspects of this business nearly as much as putting up sites and SEO, but you do what you got to do and you got to write. So I try and write as much as I can on the weekends, outsource about half of my written content, and try to get a few good blog posts written each week. Never seems like there is enought time to get everything done.

If you find it hard to write an article or ebook, try breaking it down into a smaller task. For example, it's not hard or daunting to write 100 words is it? Come up with 4 parts to your article -- an intro to talk about what you're going to talk about, 2 points to make up the body, and a conclusion to lead people to the sale or summarize the information. Suddenly, 100 words for each of those makes for a very easy article the write.

The same goes for ebooks. Break up the insurmountable task into "articles." Obviously these sections will have to flow and make sense, but people are often able to actually get their ebook done by breaking it up into smaller portions.

A lot of writing has to do with your mindset, and this can help get you there

I hate writing, yes I do. And been on Radio world for so many years you can expect me to talk. A lot.

But i've learned to write for my sites and in 5-6 years i developed a method to let my writing hate outside I think about rankings, happy visitors.

I have no idea why I opened up this thread because I actually enjoy writing. The one thing that has helped is buying Dragon Naturally Speaking. It is an excellent piece of software that you speak into and it types out your words.

It has allowed me to "write" much quicker and allowed me to be much more efficient.

i too have a problem with writing, i tend to start and get lost and dont know how to end my projects. so i have a lot of stuff that are sort of unfinished.

have to say i love writing, and have written my own ebooks, ezines, copy writing etc.
Im really lucky not only to enjoy it but it be pretty good at it.

As a none writer, I dont like to write either, but apparently there are many that do, hence the large number of people offering writing services. Let them do it for you. No point in doing something you dont like . Might as well get a JOB.

I love writing, but the more you do it I think the more you will begin to enjoy and improve at it. Gd luck!

I hate writing articles. I've bought several WSO's on tips to write articles and how to write fast articles and things like that and no matter what I hate it. I usually just buy my articles but every once in a while I will write my own because I feel I'm the best writer, I just hate to do it.

I have also used Dragon Naturally Speaking and it's alright, but I don't use it much. The good thing about it is you have audio and text. With the audio you can create podcasts and submit them to podcasting sites, you can create videos with the audio (and submit those to the appropriate places) and with the text you can do the article submissions.

It's not my favorite either. It is a means to an end, though, and that is where I get motivation.

I don't think that many people were born writers. Writing about what you like or are good at always makes the task easier and fun.

Picking a niche that you are passionate about will help.

Neither love too much nor hate . I love when it is require for me to assist in making money. Rest of the time do not like. It is a pain to write something.

Steve's right, you should try the Dragon Naturally Speaking software. All you have to do is talk to it. You can create content much faster with it and it's a lot more fun.

If that doesn't work, you should consider outsourcing. That's even easier!

Your question seems to deal with keeping motivated, especially now that you're writing an ebook. I know exactly what you're going through. I was in it. I hate writing, but I kept the motivation to write and I've finally finished MY ebook.

Let me tell you how I did it.

I have a good buddy who is a life coach and I have a very supportive girlfriend. My buddy and I spent time creating a dreamboard full of the end goals and success I want in my life. There is a reason why you are writing that ebook. Print pictures of what you want out of it. For me, I posted pictures of a nice house, lots of vegetables (I like gardening), pictures of cash, pools, hotels, pictures of different cities... and anything that will remind you of why you are torturing yourself with writing. Glue all of these pictures on your dream board. You can also put quotes that motivate you on your board. Then place that dreamboard on your wall right above your computer so you can see it every day. It's hard to slack off when your dreams are constantly in your face.

Also, use a weekly calendar and write your goals down. Set a certain amount of time each day to write, it will REALLY help. I recommend 4 to 6 hours each day. It doesn't have to be done all at once, you can allow a break in between each hour. I found that I am more likely to do something when I write it down in a schedule as opposed to just thinking about doing it.

Finally, ask those closest to you to keep you accountable. Have them nag you from time to time and ask you if you're keeping up with your writing and to help motivate you to write. My girl really helped me with this, especially since she knows exactly how to motivate me.

If you don't like to write, how about creating videos instead.
You can create a series of videos using screen capture software instead of writing an ebook.

It takes a lot less time to create videos and videos have a higher perceived value than ebooks so you can sell them at a higher price point.

You can also submit videos to YouTube and other video sites to drive traffic to your websites.

this is the thing I hate the most. I can do the writing my self how ever I would rather just pay someone 50$ to write me 10 articles depending on the writer I hire for the job I may get more then that. There are a few good sites where you can hire a writer. I know of a few people in this industry that lack the skills in every aspect of internet marketing how ever they simply out source everything and they make a killing doing so.

I also hate to write about topics I have no knowledge of. So I prefer to pick niches that are either easy to learn, or make up as I go using just basic notes. I have found it harder to re write existing articles than to just come up with an original based on just a few facts I jot down. Then I use my imagination to fill in the blanks.

I have proven through my work that I am a great copywriter, but like so many others, thought I didn't like it up until a few months ago when a mentor of mine gave me this one big piece of advice - get out of your current environment (my office) and go out into nature.

Fortunately I live by the beach, so my obvious choice was to go down to the beach, sit on a park bench and write. There is only one golden rule to this, only do it on an incoming tide as the water brings energy in with it (I've proved this) - I know this may sound strange to some Warriors, but it works for.

Whether it's the beach or wherever, just get out of your everyday environment and let the creative juices flow.

Like you, writing is not one of the thing that I normally do, its so hard to to. But when you ask me what should you do to motivate yourself to write... think you should read a lot.

It's not that I hate to write, but I don't have the talent to write. Motivation is really a key factor in everything. Just stay focus and write wholeheartedly.

I like writing the direct sales stuff. I love tweaking my landing pages and making people take action. Selling something, because you wrote a great copy is the best feeling.

I do hate writing Ezine articles and blog posts because it's so repetitive. I also write for clients on only one technical topic and it can get a bit tiring when you have to write the same article for the hundred time, but after some time, it almost becomes automatic.

Not everyone likes writing. And why force yourself to do something you don't like. Of course, you can "motivate" yourself to write but the outcome will be horrible. Everybody has different talents and if you hate writing, chances are your talent is not in writing. Why not just outsource to others who love writing. Not only that, outsourcing's another benefit is freeing up your time too. Many authors such as Tim Ferris and Jack Canfield follow along this line.

Every article have a litle techniques. Your hear about "Mr Fire" he sell a ebook about Advanced Hypnotic writing. Very good stuff.

hmmm i'm ok with writing.. it's kinda fun when you use it as a medium to vent all your inner frustrations.. writing professionally though.. is a different matter altogether..

I don't hate writing, but I don't know how to write in English.
My English totally suck! I try to learn English writing, but very hard to learn.

Someone said "If you want to learn English writing, you better use your hand to copy other good English articles on paper"....But I'm too lazy to doing this.

so....I just outsource all my writing stuff to ghostwriter.

I am one of the people who absolutely loves to write - I can't write good sales copy, but give me any niche topic and I can create content, articles and ebooks till the cows come home (which is about 4pm in our rural community). But I am the opposite - I have been reading about how video is the more popular way to create content and I am wondering if the written word will just fade away - I have been exploring all sorts of video software and stuff, but frankly doing a video scares the crap out of me - am I the only one?

English not being my first language I found it hard to write, however now I discovered blogging, no worries.
Because there is no pressure and the only deadlines are the ones I set myself I have come to really enjoy writing. Who knows where it will all lead, blogging today....tomorrow...a Nobel price?

I once heard the story of this elderly motivational speaker who was asked what one thing he would of changed looking back on his life if he could.

He stated that he would have done what he knew he should have been doing wether he felt like it or not.

Thats just it. You just do it even if you don't feel like doing it at the time.
It needs to be done sooner or later.

Even though I've done technical writing professionally, I shy away from anything that smells like writing. For blog posts I use AMA that automatically posts daily.

Im in the same boat as well ... do not like to write at all!

I think I will check out this Dragon Naturally Speaking software that everyone keeps mentioning, sounds interesting.

Writing is not my strong point - I just can't seem to get my creative juices flowing, if you know what I mean.

Luckily, a good friend of mine is a keen copywriter and we've partnered on a number of projects. Instead of a fee, he takes a percentage of the profits. That's a big incentive for him to split test the copy and fine tune the campaigns.

Copywriting is too important a discipline to take lightly, in my opinion, and I'm very lucky to know someone who can do this for me. It would take considerable effort for me to learn how to do this properly.

Blogging is different altogether, though. That's all my own work.

Have you been able to track your results? See all the back links that you have due to your articles? Sometimes when you physicall see the outcome of your efforts it will keep you motivated.

Buy Camtasia or Screenflow... Forget writing use video. You even get free video software from CamStudio. Or use something like Animoto to create content.

If you don't have a camera or don't want to be a "talking head", you can do powerpoint slides or even use a Sitepal avatar.

Get creative ... find your motivation in creativity.

I actually love writing and have done more than a bit of it in my 63 years. But, as with anything, it isn't easy for everyone. If I may suggest:

1 - Notice when you are most alert during the day or evening (or 3:00 a.m.?). When I first wake up in the morning (after coffee and e-mail, of course), I can crank it out like there's no tomorrow. If I had to write right this minute, I'd probably respond with a loud "PF-F-F-T on you!".

2 - Find your little corner to write. Maybe you like having the news on in the background, or maybe you need total quiet. If writing is part of your career goals (although a necessary part and not the main focus), that should be treated like any other job. Make yourself off-limits as far as interruptions.

3 - Always, always, always carry a small pocket-sized notebook with you and jot down quick notes as ideas come to you! Yes, you will forget if you don't.

4 - Take your notebook out, look at your notes and then list the points you want to make. Build from there.

I hope that helps because writing really does take discipline and it does not come naturally to everyone. I am glad I was blessed with enjoying writing, but even I have to discipline myself sometimes.

Writing is the one thing I'm actually confident about. I've dabbled in outsourcing my blog writing and its proved to be moderately successful. Number crunching is my personal weak area.

I don't like writing that much myself. But just like Shannon said I recommend using Dragon Naturally Speaking. I also recommend recording yourself speaking and just having someone else transcribe it for me.

So honestly, if you don't like it, you never really have to write.

When I launched my last product last year, I created the whole 150 page ebook in two day just by recording my voice using Byoaudio.com

I don't hate writing but there are times when my brain moves faster than my fingers. Here is what I do.

1. Outline what I want to cover.
2. Talk into my MP3 recorder and cover the topic
3. Outsource the transcription. I tried Dragon for this and frankly it sucked. Plus I like being able to walk around my house, drive my car, etc and get work done.
4. Get the finished product back, tweek it and get it out to the masses

For those who say writing is difficult, it's because you are
looking at it as "writing". But what it IS in actual fact is
"TALKING" - whether writing an article, an autoresponder
copy, a sales letter, whatever - you are TALKING to your
audience/readers/visitors. If you look at it as that, it
will become easier.

To drive home my point - those who say they can't or
hate writing - do you realize how VIGOROUSLY you engage
in arguments/debates/analysis/etc with friends on certain
issues or topics. How many minutes did you spend just
explaining your view point on several issues. Do you know
how many number of words that last debate you had
with a friend was? Probably 1000s that could convert into
5 articles,

In the past, what was the norm was to TALK to your tape
recorder and get someone to transcribe to paper or your
computer, but those days are gone. Today there's the right
software - the awesome Dragon Naturally Speaking -
that allows you to do your TALKING and it types out what
you say.

So - those who say they are not good in typing so can't
write, here's your solution - Dragon Naturally Speaking!

I love writing and always have done. In fact, I earn my living from writing content, and seeing all these comments here from those who hate writing, I can see why the site I work for does so well. I've always believed that if a person can write, surely they would enjoy it? For me it's the greatest thing ever, as it's afforded me an opportunity to live the life I have now. Retired from the offshore life at 40 and now I'm able to live stress free in Thailand with my wife and kids. I suppose all things considered, I have every reason to love writing :-)

I like writing, when my brain is fresh. I will start doing it, when it's early in the morning. When I start feeling a little tired, I'll immediately take a break. I never "force" things.

For example, I may go to the beach, go for a walk, take a nap, do some breathing (nothing too weird) etc...

I also try to drink about 3 liters of water and eat 5-6 small, balanced meals a day. That way I don't feel hungry and I can focus on writing. Plus, my brain gets all the water, glucose and amino acids it needs to function properly.

The idea is to be "strong", when you write. :-)

OR record yourself talking about the subject then get it transcriped, OR do videos instead.

I admit it's a little hard to COMPLETELY get away from writing at all in this business (with email marketing, building a reputation and all that)

Just think of each piece of writing you do as a letter to someone close to you. Most people I think are fine with writing an email here and there.

And finally the more you do it the easier it will get. I think the ones that hate writing the most are the perfectionists that take forever that get one sentence out. If that's the case, yea that can get annoying. You need to bypass your conscious-mind and tap into that subconscious part of your brain that words just flow from.

How about before you start writing to sit down, clear your head and just start writing gibberish. Any crap you can think of, without filtering any of it out. That hsould get you warned up at least.

Once i wanted to write a new infoproduct out.

I took me nearly 3 months to write the first chapter. Seriously unmotivivated.

But when i sat down and put my focus on it, surprisingly i finished the whole thing in 2 days..

Of course, i dictated and made someone else write for me. :-)
