The end of a 3 week old site - 200 visits/day

I am considering to terminate my 3 week old site - sitebone.com (see signature - if still relevant)

I noticed I get the same 200 visitors each day (professional flippers)

Because I expected some "word of mouth"-effect (the site offers something unique) I didn't bother to "beg for" or "arrange" backlinks.

That word-of-mouth-effect didn't happen...

The site takes me about 2 hours of work each day (mainly by adding thumbnail previews - the rest is fully automatic)

Two hours of work is way too much, especially when I don't see any "viral" progress which would enable me to make the site profitable.

What would you do?

Thanks!
#200 #end #site #visits or day #week

Forgive me if you've already considered the idea, but have you explored options to automate the adding of thumbnails?

Perhaps something like shrinktheweb.com, which offers a WordPress plugin to automatically create website thumbnails, could speed up this process?

That's what I am using, but no robot out there to automatically grab the url's of the listed sites for sale. It requires manual verification...

      Here are some variations:

      • thisdomain.com
      • this domain dot com
      • t h i s d o m a i n . c o m
      • see signature
      • etc...
      Thanks for your input!

Hm, have you found out what it would cost to get Amazon Mechanical Turk workers to perform the verification for you? That could be a viable alternative to a computerized solution.

Outsourcing is an option to keep the required updates under control. But how do I make it viral?

          Thanks for the suggestion!

I really like that site. Don't have any advice on what to do, but thought it was a great idea.

Forget about what you want for a moment.

Think about who your users are.

Site flippers. People who buy sites low and sell them high. People looking for the edge over other site flippers in an increasingly competitive marketplace.

Now... why would they want to make it harder for themselves by inviting other site flippers along to the party?

Building on Kyle's advice, if the site does make it easier for site flippers to find properties, why not charge them a small monthly fee (say $10) and build from there?

You gotta give it longer than 3 whole weeks... Take some of the suggestions, price it out and maybe if you don't want the hassles why not Flip it yourself and walk away with a little bank

It's a great idea to have all the sites for sale listed together in the one place. I agree with Mike, you need to give it more time and spend some time promoting it.
