Is there a REALLY GOOD REASON to continue using EzineArticles?

After Google Panda (and a few of its updates) and the current PHANTOM UPDATE, it is natural to reconsider the value of writing articles and submitting them to Ezinearticles.

Is there a COMPELLING reason to submit to EZA and other similar sites or...

is guest posting and blog carnivals or interview round robins a better approach?

I was thinking just the other day whether they would ever recover in the
search engines. My monthly article views are almost zero every month!
They really got hit hard and it doesn't seem like they are going to recover
    anytime soon.

According to Alexa.com Site Info, EZA's traffic has been going down and most of its traffic is non-US

In my opinion it is a waste of time anymore.

Six years ago it was a goldmine. Bum marketing and Syndication at EZA was really a great route to go.

I just think it is a dinosaur anymore and I have moved on.

Are you referring to the quality update??
Looking at algoroo, it seems that this recent update is bigger than the mobile update.
That's why I think the changes on search is very noticeable.

  • I think guest blogging is a better idea.

Personally, that's what I would focus on. Find high-traffic blogs to submit articles too

Yeah, that's how I'm leaning too.

      Tight niche targeting

Also, when your brand appears on someone else's established blog, some of the CREDIBILITY rubs off on your brand.

Of course, guest posts MUST NOT target keywords. That's spammy.

Going back a number of years I used Ezine Articles constantly -- not for traffic or backlinks, but for the purpose it was originally intended: to have my content picked up webmasters and used as content on their websites.

Probably two years ago (it could have been longer), I deleted all my articles from the Ezine Articles website and also deleted my account. Why? Because I'd just had enough of unethical people lifting my articles and publishing them on their websites with all attributions (both to myself and Ezine Articles) removed.

I had repeatedly reported instances to EZA and each time they sent a boilerplate reply telling me there was nothing they could do. I also sent out DMCAs but more often than not, they were ignored.

In the end I gave it up as a thankless task.

    That's just good humor!

Although it's a long, slow process, the best thing anyone could actually do is to focus on developing a single domain, building a quality visitor experience over time - slowly, naturally and working with search engines rather than continually trying to circumvent them.

Traffic from ezinearticles has dropped to almost nothing. I had uploaded hundreds of articles on their site few years back and was getting good traffic and link juice. But these days, almost no traffic.

I think just upload 1-2 articles to get some basic links and exposure and move on. There are other ways to build quality back links. One old method that is also helpful till now is blogs commenting.

Many of my Ezine articles are still doing quite well. Hmm, maybe I'm an anomaly..

I've relied on there listing for many years and would hate to see things play out like may of you here are suggesting.

Thanks god I was lazy enough not to post on EZA. BTW I was always in favor of posting my articles on my sites only and it started working slowly.

Ever heard slow and steady win the race.
