Morning!

I do know what I am doing - sort of - so why can't I do it? I read and read, write a little, post, but still I get nowhere. My motivation is probably not as good as it should be (though not being able to pay the mortgage should motivate me some!).

Should I search for a mentor? Someone to say, today, do this, Katie, buck up, blimey woman, you need a boot up the *&*&! motivate!!

ARE there any really good mentors? I know of a few marketers who charge a fortune for instructions, but usually have so many students that they do not have time for an individual, just sort of bulk instruct. Any suggestion please?

    Hi Katie

I suspect you're doing much like many others online do and that's jump from one project to another without actually finishing anything first.

Yes a mentor could be a good idea, but do you have the discipline to do exactly what that person suggests. (It's something you need to ask yourself)

    Regards
    Kim

I do have the discipline yes, I work far better initially when I am following instructions, rather than sitting thinking about what to do next. This is why I feel that a mentor would be ideal for me.

There are so much step by step product out there that really take you hand by hand to success. I can't understand why you don't buy just one of them that looks strong and stick with it until you succeed.

I think it's almost like a mentor. I started like this and thank God I do very well. If you'll only stick a picture of the great future you'll have after you stick with one thing it will be alot easier for you.

Just think of one place that you want to be when you'll have all that money from your online business. Every time that you feel like you are getting distracted just bring that picture into mind and you'll see that you get motivated again faster than you think.

Ohh and one more thing. Create a plan before you go to the battle.

Yes you need a plan, a written one preferably.

You need motivation because without this you have no focus and no discipline - without these you will continuously underdeliver and become even more demotivated.

I think accepting and hopefully enjoying the fact that you are the boss is key here. You are the one who makes the decisions for your business. Pat yourself on the back when you make good ones, but don't be too hard on yourself when you make bad ones. In both cases learn from the experiences. Understand and remember how and why each outcome was attained.

Yes you need a mentor but more importantly you need a course that fits and can improve upon your current level of ability.

I have already recommended this course to someone else on another thread asking a similar question as yourself and it seemed to make their day.

    Thirty Day Challenge

I completed this course last year, and made significantly more than $10 I might add, but learned so much in the process and it kind of kickstarted my online business. It instilled in me the belief that making money online was not an unattainable goal.

Hope this helps Katie and good luck.

Here's a test for you, it was ignored by everyone whom had already viewed it and I thought, considering what you say resembles the difficulties caused by ADD you should have a look, and because I also want other warriors to have a go at the test, especially those who are having difficulties.

On the mentor side of things, no-one can do it only yourself. A mentor can only hold your hand while you do it.

It would be great to post your results in the thread about the success eater to help other people become encouraged to learn about it.

      Best Wishes.

Great stuff. Everything you need to do is laid out for you in a daily plan. Preseason has just started which reveals and teaches you some of the applications and core skills required for this years challenge.

Basically what I am saying is don't spend too long with the thinking but spend plenty of time with the doing.

      All the best.

      Garry.

Jeremy and Don's BOOTCAMP's are excellent. I have been trying to do this for about a year and a half.....took one of their Bootcamp courses and am finally doing something. The two points that motivated me the most (on top of all the information) were, 'Get off your a**' and 'don't complicate things, it really isn't that hard' You can find them in the WSO section!

Wonderful!! lolol, I think that's just what I do, overcomplicate the whole thing. I know it works, I can see it works, I'm probably just making it more difficult than it actually is!

Stick to your goal and work a little harder sometimes you will feel frustrated but sticking with it will return you something sooner or later. Moreover plan your work accordingly with the goal.

I would like to find someone experienced to look over some things I have done for online marketing and share how I should tweak them, change them etc. I am definitely willing (and do) put in the time to do what it takes.

Is there an experienced pro out there willing to take a look at my sites?

      Wooo folks...hold the phone.

Before anybody jumps on somebody who says, "PM me, I'll be your mentor"
      please do your research.

Step 1 - Go to Google and look up the person's name. See if they have any
kind of a reputation at all.

Step 2 - Ask the person for references of people who they've actually
      helped with their mentoring.

Step 3 - Sit down and figure out what it is that YOU need out of it. Not
every mentor is an expert at every little thing.

Personally, I'm very wary of somebody who's been a member of this forum
for all of 30 days and says, "Hey, I'll be your mentor"

      Caveat Emptor.

It's certainly easy for people to get confused when they start trying to make money online - there are so many experts telling you to do different things. Most people end up subscribing to a few lists and buying a few products, then try to do too many things at the same time, without ever actually succeeding at any of them.

Although I think it is good to have multiple income streams and not have all your eggs in one basket, it is easier to focus on one thing at a time to start with. If you can make that one thing something that really interests you, or something that you are good at or have a passion for then it can make a difference to how successful you will be with it.

I think a mentor can be great for guiding you in the right direction, helping you to create a plan of action and letting you know what you are doing wrong. It also helps some people to have someone to be accountable to or "report back to" for motivation purposes.

Mentor or no Mentor, you need to be prepared to put in the work. A lot of people don't realise how much hard work it takes to succeed online and give up after a few months. Writing down your goals, having the right mindset and expectations, and making a plan of action to reach these goals will make a big difference.

    Cheers,
    Suzanne

    Hi Steve,

I do understand what you mean, however, Barry has given me some good general advice - as have a few more marketers via PM - for which I am grateful. I understand the difference between mentoring and coaching, and that I am only going to get generalised advice for free

    Thanks for your comments though.

Suzanne, I agree that it's the work that matters as much as anything else, and I am prepared to do this. I have been around here for long enough to know how it works, I just like having someone to 'bounce' ideas off and tell me to get on with it

It's good that you recognise your problem Katie. I had the same problem recently. Unfortunately for me my motivation came for me in a series of bad events. Just take action. I bet you know what it is you need to do to succeed. Start setting some goals today!

    Best of Luck

    Katie,
I know your being inundated with offers at the moment, and some of those will be really worthwhile, but I am in the proccess of writing a report which will be exactly what your looking for. It will clear away some of the myths that haunt every newbie and will show you exactly how to build your own online business.
As I say I am still writing it at the moment. Should be ready in about two weeks.
It will be free to download on my main blog.
So watch out for the Stormbringer report.

A mentor to me is someone who gives of themselves freely (not free).

This information is only as valuable as you readiness to hear it.
