It really depends on how you advertise.

If i promote on facebook, to get the cheapest bid possible i always advertise to these countries:

    India
    Albania
    Nepal
    Malaysia
    Mexico
    Pakistan
    Venezuela
    Argentina
    Chile
    Indonesia
    Brazil,
    Poland
    Serbia
    Slovakia
    Trinidad and Tobago
    Bangladesh
    Egypt
    Bosnia and Herzegovina
    Tunisia
    Vietnam
    Algeria
    Macedonia
    Bulgaria

When you want to build a huge facebook fan page or you want direct clicks on your ad, try to target this countries and it will cost 0.5-4 cents per click, even lower than that sometimes.

Sure, you're paying for cheap clicks but what is the DOLLAR CONVERSION value of that traffic?

I'd rather pay $1 per click for US traffic that converts at $125 to $350 a pop.

At the end of the day, it's all about RETURN ON INVESTIMENT (ROI) not cheap clicks.

This is so true. At the end of the day I want to build a buyers list, not a prospect list so you need to look at ROI as well as opt-in rate.

Then you can try to dial in your front end offer and funnel to make it self liquidating i.e. you are aquiring customers for free. Test and track everything as you go.

My primary aim is to build a buyers list and to break even and then I can market to them and make money on the back end.

I definitely agree with you! PPC advertising is getting more expensive especially when targeting the US. I think this is because more and more advertisers are now using PPC than SEO organic traffic compared to the old days when it's easier to rank a website in Google search results....

For competitive niches this assertion/question may always be debatable.

But for niches like "how to make soap at home"... i doubt if you'll have high cost per clicks. Especially against competitors who believe that *if you build it they will come*.

Amount of competition in the niche doesn't have much to do with the cpc with regards to facebook.

Diet, Skin, and Muscle - Three of the highest competition niches on fb - Can achieve(and sustain) .04c clicks with relative ease. The main contributing factor outside the quality of the ad, is demographic size and how well you know your markets' likes and interests(How targeted you can get). I'd expect to see .20c+ on "Making soap at home" even with a killer ad.

It will always be much easier to get extremely cheap traffic on subjects that people are passionate about. Weight loss, Wrinkles, building muscle, MMO ect. Soap? Not so much

I was never big on adwords, but I agree that Facebook PPC has risen in some niches..

It really depends on what you are trying to do with the traffic though. I can still get relatively cheap clicks in most of my campaigns.

Facebook ppc ads are definitely getting more expensive my gosh! I am not exactly sure at what rate it is increasing by but my business Mastercard statement seems to keep growing month after month.

I guess the more people join FB and want to make money in that marketplace, the costs will continue to rise exponentially boo!

    The cost doesn't really matter.

What does matter, as "icoachu" says, is your ROI.

I can't imagine anyone would mind paying $2 a click if it was returning $3 in return. On the other hand, penny clicks mean nothing if no sales result.

So don't be so concerned with cost. Focus on the conversions to subscribers and buyers.

Remember.. PPC is a market, just like any other. People bid on ad placement and will only continue to do so if there's money to be made.

In most PPC networks, the network has no say in the price at all - it's all live bidding by advertisers..

So, the market will ALWAYS balance out to the point where it's profitable for people - as soon as it isn't, people stop bidding and the price falls.. Supply and demand at work..

    Cheers,
    Michael

Yes. PPC is constantly gaining in popularity. The more competition for a keyword, the higher the CPC.
