Is There Anyway To Stop 4webmasters.org traffic Other Than Filters/HtAccess. I am getting tons of spam visitors from 4webmasters on daily basis. I tried to block it through htaccess but I am getting it continuously. I would highly appreciate if anyone could help me out.

Can't you block their IP from your website hosting administrative panel?
(Cpanel). I'm no expert but I think that should work.

Yes. I use a wordpress plugin called WP Ban. Here you go:

You can do all sorts of stuff with WP Ban. You can block by IP address,Host Name.etc...

I'm seeing visits from 4webmasters.org in Google Analytics but not on my server usage stats so I think they are referral spam. This means they are not actually loading pages from my site. They are just sending hits to Google to pretend like they visited my site. Another symptom of referral spam is that the page title for these visits shows up as "not set" or "home page" instead of a real page title.

The good news is that they are not impacting my server since they are not really loading pages. The bad news is there is nothing I can do to block them from sending messages to Google to make it look like they visited my site.

I just hide these visits in Google Analytics using a Segment. Any time a new spammer shows up I just update the Segment.

  • There is a couple ways to go about blocking/filtering out spam bot traffic. Google has stated that they are "working" on this issue... but who knows when it will be fixed.

Visit = Blocking Spam Referral Traffic from Google Analytics

It will explain how to block hosts in your .htaccess file / which tyronne78 has wrote if you do use WordPress there is plugins you can block specific host/ip's ect.

    https://wordpress.org/plugins/better-wp-security/

Will also do all of this and supply good WP Security.

You can try to filter through google analytics but this method seems not very effective.

Use the .htaccess file block or a plugin.

Here is the list of the most popular to watch out for (spam bot referrals):

    semalt.com
    buttons-for-website.com
    sharebutton.net
    simple-share-buttons.com
    social-buttons.com
    4webmasters.org
    best-seo-offer.com
    best-seo-solution.com
    buttons-for-your-website.com
    Get-Free-Traffic-Now.com
    free-share-buttons.co
    event-tracking.com
    free-share-buttons.com
    free-social-buttons.com

Now they are even using www1.simple-share-buttons.com and www2.simple-share-buttons.com ... ect ect

So its going to be an ongoing battle until they get this fixed, until now just follow that link and do what you can.

Good luck and let us know if you need more help...

Plugins and the htaccess file won't work for this type of spam. This is ghost spam, meaning that it never access your site, so any server side action won't have any effect.

To stop this kind of spam, you should create filter in GA. You can find detailed information in this article:

Stop 4webmasters.org Referral spam in Google Analytics

    Hope it helps,
