My website blocked by Chrome for over 1 week now

One of my Wordpress websites starting coming up with a phishing attack warning and being blocked in Chrome just over 1 week ago, and received notification from Google which pointed out a file on our server (Hostgator) called wp-def.php which is apparently malicious.

This seems to be related to a vulnerability in one of our plugins which I was alerted to by Hostgator last last year and I immediately took steps to apply updates, install Wordfence (security) and delete any suspect files, however it looks like the file above must have been missed and Google have now picked up on it. It came as a big shock when this problem first occurred and the site was blocked by Hostgator for a while at that time who pretty much left me to self diagnose what the problem was and sort it out.

Since receiving the phishing notification just over a week ago, I have been busy following Google's guidelines in Webmaster tools to remove the infected files and make sure everything is up to date, however after submitting the site to Google for review several times I have still had no reply from them and it is still blocked. I'm starting to get really worried that it will never be unblocked.

Has anybody else had a similar experience including any info on how long Google took to review the affected site? They suggested I should receive a response within 2 days but nothing at all so far. Any help would be much appreciated.
