I've had a lot of help from some kind people on this forum and I'm ready to take the plunge.

I've got my keywords for my niche and I've got my affiliate product. I'm just wondering what people would do in my situation.

Do I:

Submit my articles and have a link that goes directly to my main affiliate program, via a domain name of course .....or

Submit my articles and have my link go to a landing page with a few different but related products?

I know by choosing the second option I could probably build a list by offering something for free but I'm not sure if something like this would be too complicated for a complete newbie. Also how would I go about building a landing page? Do I use something like squidoo or have my own site as I basically would only need a one page site.

What would you do?

I suggest that you set up a squeeze page with your own domain and capture visitor's email address and name. The squeeze page should have a catchy headline and subheader to entice visitors to opt in.

Your squeeze page should address a single problem and aim to promote one primary affiliate product.

Option 1 is not recommended as it seems to be easier to do, it is not good in the long run. Building your own landing page is not hard... there are many templates you can use. Yes, it is definitely more work when compared to option 1, but is worth every single minute of your time to build it right from the beginning.

    Hi Betty,

You could also create a video on youtube quite inexpensively and then have the link on your youtube page. You can check this forum on the WSO's for some folks that can create you a nice looking video for lest than $30. In my view a video should get better mileage than an article.
    Hope this helps.

    Hi.....Bluebetty!
Well,to me, You should work on option 1 because it is to do for Newbies..
i.e.submit your articles and it will have a link directly to your affiliate program...
Dear, building your own page is not a difficult task.
you can also use squidoo..it will really help you...

I would definitely recommend sending your traffic to a squeeze
page so that you can collect emails for future marketing. If
you are unable to do that, then at least send them to some sort
of landing page like a review page.

This will get you more conversions rather than just sending your
your traffic straight to the product's sales page.

Thanks everyone for your opinions. I know option 1 is probablt best in the long run but I've no idea how to build a site and can't afford any software or afford to put a lot more money out at the moment, so maybe option 1 would be better to get me started, unless of course there is a simple and cheap way of setting up a squeeze page.

    BlueBetty,

One of the skills that separate money makers from people that will never make any is the small ability to build a landing page - which increases your conversions.

These folks will allow you to build landing pages quite easily and for free...

    - weebly.com
    - synthasite.com

They are point and click/cut & paste easy & includes fill in webpage template.

Once you get over your small learning curve - it'll be easy as pie.

Here are some free opt-in page templates...

    extracashmethods.com/graphicaloptin/

Of course now, you'll need an autoresponder service in order to collect & manage your subscribers.

My advice is to first learn how to build/slap up presell landing pages and then you can get into building your lists.

You need to get over that small learning curve regarding landing pages.

    Hope This Helps!!

    Why not try this...

Buy a domain name, and redirect to your affiliate program, then point your submitted articles to your domain name. That way, you can submit your articles now and hopefully start seeing some return via your affiliate program.

While you start getting traffic to your domain name, you can buy some hosting and place your domain on it. You can still keep it redirecting to your affiliate program.

Now, you can start "playing" with building some landing pages and testing. If you think you've built a landing page that looks ok, put it on your domain and switch off the redirect to your affiliate program.

This way, you can try options 1 and 2 and learn some new skills in the meantime

This sounds like a very good idea, try to earn a little while I learn. Never thought of that, thanks very much.

I would send article traffic to a squeeze page, get the email, then forward them onto the salses page via your affiliate link. If you learn your conversiuon rate, you should then be able to use pay per click in the same way, and essentially build a list for free or even turn a profit.

Don't forget to follow up with your subscribers every few days to increase your dollars earned per subscriber (meaning you can spend even more on PPC whilst still breaking even while you list build).

I will go for the affiliate page. The main objective should be as much traffic generation is possible to that page. More traffic more chances the product get sold.

I would not use squidoo. they have been deleting and locking lenses left and right on topics they no longer accept such as weight loss, get out of debt, and some affiliate programs as well.

Any time you rent somebody else's virtual real estate (ie blogger or squidoo) you are at risk.

For $39.95 Weebly allows you to register your own domain name and they'll host if for free.

The site is relatively easy to use, pretty much point and click, drag and drop.

Blinkweb is easy to use as well, the domain name registeration is free, hosting is $1.00 for the first month and then $14.95 a month thereafter.

        There are probably others.

These are all great pieces of advice, but I would take a bit of a different direction.

Instead of putting those articles out there, and hoping MAYBE they will work, why not write a bunch of articles, (let's say 10, one for each of your main keywords), and sell them as an article pack for like $4 to $5 per article.

Right off the bat, you would have $40 to $50 to start reinvesting into your next venture.

Rinse and repeat 3 or 4 times, and you would have nearly $200 to spend. Then you could do some adwords research, buy a site, etc.

            I hope this helps.
