How do you get and keep clients ?

I know a lot of people here run SEO campaigns and do consulting for clients. What is the best advice you could give in terms of getting and keeping clients. Is it required to have your own website where you outline your services and clients can contact you ? Or are there simpler ways ?

You should have your own site

Make sure you spell out why people should go with your services instead of your competition

Make sure you have a few sample reports available

For SEO services: CASE STUDIES count for a lot!

Simplest way to keep any client is to deliver what is promised and prove you can show some results.

Put your self in the shoes of the potential business looking to hire an SEO expert. Imagine you need to hire one, and pretend to look for one. Eventually, you will find someone who you think, if you were a business owner, you would hire to do your SEO.

Once you find this person, learn from them and do what they do.

Honestly, these days it is really imperative that you have your own site outlining your services and giving in depth detail of what you can do for your customers.

Yes, you need your own website. You also need your own email address @ your website domain.

    Then you need testimonials.

Then when you get clients you need to make sure you turn in the work on time and keep excuses to a minimum. After a while, ask them for a testimonial. Rinse repeat, profit.

Be genuine. You kind of really have to want to help your customers, because that shines through.

If you get a client you don't like, dump them. It's better for both of you in the long term.

Don't take on more clients than you can handle, and don't farm out the work to other contractors.

Build genuine relationships with people and do what you say you're going to do. Sometimes you must go above and beyond.

  • Hey JohnKingley

Very, very summary: First you have your niche, of course, then you build a site/blog where ever distribute valuable information for free, ask your fans their email address through a squeeze page in exchange for a gift (must be something value video or ebook, etc.); once you have a list you do email marketing education, do not write just to sell to your list, lose all in a short time.

I'm assuming that having a website and listing services is a *hard* thing to do? I assure you it's not lol.

For getting clients, i like to demonstrate that i'm the real deal. I introduce them to all of my products, get them to buy most of them, then tell them how i can help them to get customers of their own to do what they did -- buy more and more from me.

    That's instant credibility.

To keep them, stay in contact with them, and make yourself available to them. And also... some direct mail promotion doesn't hurt either.

Firstly you have a good knowledge about the work. You have to complete the work within the scheduled time with good result at anyhow any cost. You need to be polite, gentle, well behaved with the client. Your main intend should be the client satisfaction not the money. Your service should be excellent.

Getting new clients to your business is a marketing strategy, its subjective.

Keeping the client requires just one basic rule, keep them happy. whoever your clients, customers are do your best to serve them and they will not leave you.

I completely agree! If clients have a good experience with your business, they will keep coming back. At MyTime we help local merchants stay in touch with their clients using our Communicator feature. Merchants can address any customer question/concerns by simply messaging their clients through the MyTime Scheduler app. This is a unique feature that almost no other online calendar company provides. You can start chats on your phone, and then finish them right from a laptop or desktop computer. As you mentioned, keeping clients happy is important. A big piece of that is being responsive when they have questions!

        Remember "WIIFM."

What's in it for me? That's the question that buyers ask, regardless of whether you sell a product or service. If you can prove the value and utility of your solution to the prospect you will be profitable in your business.

It's never about the owner or his business . . . it's always about the customer and what he/she wants.

        Good luck to you,

        Steve

Create a target list of prospective clients you want and then create a multi-step campaign to reach them with a compelling offer. This is what works.

Yes you need a website. As Freebiequeen1999 said above, it doesn't do much for your SEO creds if you don't have one...

To help win clients, find out what real problems your target customers have and make sure you address those problems with solutions in your proposals. Put yourself in their shoes: think about what *they* are going to want from you. Make sure that you and your proposals are always presented professionally.

To keep them, always deliver what you said you'd deliver - and add as much value to their business as you can. Make them money, save them money, save them headaches, save them hassle.
