This Is How To Upsell A Service Customer (It's The Same Psychology For Product Customers)

You ever do a job that you think is too small for you to be dealing with, but you sorta kinda need the money?

Well, the more you say yes to opportunities the more likely you are to create greater opportunities by virtue of making stuff happen.

So...what I recommend you do, especially you folks that offer services to others is start saying yes to projects that you know you can provide services for, and once you're in...you're a lock to let clients know that you can do other things for them as well.

So, if you offer article writing, but you know you're good at writing email sequences mention that...AFTER you got the article writing job.

If you make lead magnets...tell them AFTER you got the squeeze page gig.

If you can make presentations, do that AFTER you get the Sales Letter gig.

This is relatable in so many ways and is one of my cornerstone tactics for routinely getting 4 figure (recently in the higher four figure) freelance jobs from clients that thought they wanted just one thing, but realized, after we started working together that they needed more and that I could provide it for them.

Get in...don't oversell....give them what they want and then let them know you can do the other stuff they haven't begun thinking about yet.

How many 4 or 5 figure clients do you need to make your month?

I promise it's that simple.

Hope it helps.

Regards,

Los

    Thanks for this focusedlife,
It is funny how we tend to ovelook things that could seroisly improve our earnings.
I mean, we see this all the time at retail stores, yet a lot of us never think of applying this to our peculoar situations. This includes me.

Most affiliate marketers online will be happy when they earn a one time commission. They overlook affiliate programs that can pay them residual income and an income from upsells. I used to be one of those affiliates for a few years and left a lot of money on the table.

The good thing is that you learn as time goes by.

@Manuelcrc - The secret reason that most folks don't succeed is because the ones that do are willing to do the stuff no one else wants to.

It's sort of an entitlement thing, imo.

People want to sell without having to actually sell and they'd rather be paid more for stuff that doesn't really require creativity.

I simply put the stuff out there...it's really up to the serious ones to implement.

I try to help where I can.

    This is a great post!

Once you have displayed great customer service, or a great product, or what ever it is you do, they will be far more likely to use you for other services you provide.

Eg. Built a website for a client, when it was all done I offered them a monthly content writing package and they snapped it up.

@talfighel - Residual is definitely cool, however, if all you're doing is building your business up on someone else's equity...you're building a business on quicksand unless...

Unless you also build up your own equity.

    Sell your own products.

Allow affiliates to promote for you.

Sell to others in your niche.

Let them buy from you to further solidify your authoritative position.

    Don't just sell other's stuff.

Sell your own creations and you'll build a strong foundation.
