    If you already have Word, go with that as it looks really nice.

    If you can't afford it, you can use the free Openoffice writer by apache.

    MS have a monthly payment plan for there office suite now though just throwing that out there.

    Hi, to write an ebook, Microsoft Word is the best software to use.

    Another thing to consider when producing an ebook is images. Adding some images can make our content more attractive. But, we have to be very careful when using other people's images (copyright issue).

    My suggestion:
    Buy royalty free images which are cheap but high quality. I highly recommend Dollar Photo Club, each HQ image only costs $1
    .

    Another headache when producing an ebook is the cover design. I do not have a good hand in designing thing. So I always paid for the cover design.

    My favorite place to go for cover design is Fiverr.com. Just type '2D and 3D Ebook Cover", there will be a whole list of gigs to choose from.

    My advice:

    • Try to choose a gig which provides 2 to 3 revisions;
    • Look at the samples and the previous completed works, see ehich one impress you the most;
    • Choose high rating sellers;
    • It doesn't matter if you are to go for some extra gigs, as long as it is within your budget and the gig meet your requirement.
    Hope this help

    You can create your Ebook in Canva. It will look much more professional than in Microsoft Word. You have the option to show your creativity in abundance there. Its free until you use some pics which cost $1 each. But no worries as you have tonnes of free options too (whether it be pictures, background colors, textures, shapes symbols etc).
    Wish you luck!

    MS word option is good. Write compelling content. Format it properly but never be over-complicated in terms of graphics or images. Keep it simple and to-the-point.

    After completing writing work, get ebook cover design. Convert it to pdf. You can do it for free.

    Regards!

      MS Word works great - it's what I have been using for all my ebooks, reports, papers, etc. for a very long time. It's easy to save a .doc file as a pdf, so yes, you are on the right track.

      I would suggest you get a well done WORD template for your ebook. Get one that was made by a professional writer. It makes formatting your ebook so much easier. Section and chapter headings, bullet points, quotes, table of contents, etc are all done almost automatically so it will save you time and give your ebook a professional appearance.

      Good luck with your project,

    Yes, MS Word is what I use. Take time to learn good formatting. Do make sure you use good grammar...so hire an editor or proofreader to help finalize your copy.

    The topic should be on one that you enjoy as long as people are spending money in that particular niche. Since your favorite hobby is to write technical tips (as your signature says) then that's where I would start for creating ebooks.

    You can use free sofware like Talktyper

    In addition to it you could use some tricks to make your Ebook attractive and salable, of course.
    The important thing is not the Ebook but how do you promote it!
    you must follow the rules of persuasion to write a good sale text.

    After that I suggest you to give for free the 1st chapter!

      Tyler, you're not linking in the right way or your computer settings are not right. All my pdf links are clickable and go right to the Internet. Maybe your computer is set up to block such links, I don't know.

    If your selling the book on Amazon kindle direct publishing, I found the auto format that happens to be a scary process. It took forever and didn't work the first few try's. but eventually amazon processed it and correctly. I uploaded it as a Microsoft word document.

      Snack,

      Amazon warns about uploading your book as a word doc. There is too much extraneous code that is added. Save it as an html filtered file and you will have better results. Read the publishing guidelines at KDP and you won't have difficulties if you follow them.

    If your a Mac user... I'd suggest using Pages... nice layout, easy to use and converts to PDF no problem !

    ..and as a personal rule of thumb, before writing any book:

    - Have a GOOD TITLE
    - Have a GOOD COVER
    - Have a STORY BOARD - and stick to it !
    - Make sure it's ORIGINAL

    ..all the rest is YOU !

    when all else fails tho... MS Word will suffice ;-)

    Hope this helps, PM me if you want to chat further !

    HOW TO WRITE IT

    Type it up on Microsoft Word

    WHICH SOFTWARE SHOULD I USE

    Convert it to pdf using "pdfonline.com"

    THAT SIMPLE.

    Just make it good, high quality, and delivers very good information. The more ebooks you write, the more proficient you will become with it.

    I've written dozens ebooks and reports for clients (and a few for myself). As far as the software end of things, you can download LibreOffice for free and convert to PDF.

    If you're looking for advice on the writing end, I'd recommend reading as many ebooks as possible, of the type you'd like to publish.
