I thought buying traffic was a bad idea and considered to be a blackhat technique? Am I wrong on this? I've heard it a couple times but I'm new so...

John, they are referring to buying traffic through PPC or other whitehat methods. Not buying fake clicks and links from Fiverr, SEOClerks, etc..

$400 is enough for a basic website.

Domain name- $15 or less per year
    Hosting- $10 per month
    Auto Responder- $20 per month

Then you could spend some of the remaining $$$ on content creation, a premium wordpress theme, or buying traffic.

Traffic is probably where most of that money will go.
Just know what you are doing, and make sure it's targeted.
Do your research on traffic while waiting on the site to be built.

  • Is it possible to earn money in the next 5 months.....

    Yes!

Is it likely that (someone who doesn't yet have a "site with all the plugins and all stuff they need" ) and assuming also no "marketing experience and skills" will earn back that $400.....

    probably not.

As you can see from the suggestions above, there are systems in place that you can set up,
but then it's up to the person to make things happen.

So your answer is YES, defnitly.

You should concentrate to building up your mailing ilist, so you must learn how generate Traffic

Yes, you can start a website with far less than $400. Find you a solid web host with one click Wordpress installations. You can have your site up in the next hour for under a dollar a day!

As far as earnings go, it depends how much traffic you get. To start for free, build up your social profiles, post engaging content, and overall be useful. Within 5 - 6 months it should be generating some type of revenue especially if you're posting daily.

Yeah that's enough to start a website with. You can test tremendously on traffic generation and the sources that work best for you. A site is cheap, products are easy to make/acquire... it's just down to the marketing at the end of the day.

I'm with Tyler on this one. Put up your site with a little money and a lot of elbow grease (actually you don't even need that much elbow grease these days), then spend the rest on paid traffic and see how things go!

$400 is plenty to start a website. You could actually use that money to cover your domain and hosting for multiple years (I'd recommend going for 1 year) as that would include discounts in most cases.

Plugins are usually free (you can find free alternatives to most paid plugins).

What kind of website are you looking into launching?

It's not really what you have to spend, it's what do you have that works.

      Reverse engineer this.

Find out what works, make a similar scenario.

What is the angle, and why would somebody buy form you.

Then you can go through the trivial sometimes free costs to get it off the ground.

Otherwise your just throwing away money on a pipe dream.

For me it depends on what you want and your product. I agree it's more than enough to create your website with Wordpress for example. But if you look for something special and really unique, or you want to present a real huge and value product to the market, you should take about your content, SSEO, functionality of your website, different advanced options (that even require programming knowledge).

400$ is enough to make some money. These are my stats on experiment that I performed recently with my new blog.

You should go with basic plugins which are always free.

    1. domain and hosting - 12$ promotional for a year with Godaddy with free domain.

    2. Advertisement investment - 300$

What I got in return ? 700$ in adsense revenue.

I have written an eBook on how I did that and of course you could do it as well.

This means 400$ is more than enough but you will need to work wisely.

Start a website. Yes! But to sustain it over a period of time like 6 months? Maybe not. But to start is definitely yes. imho, you may also need to think long term, what happens after the $400 is used up.

    My 2 cents~

Yes, absolutely you can start a website within $400 and use WordPress for your website... but you need to focus on the niche and contents of your website and how will it bring profits to you in 5 months. If it is an ecommerce site, there are good chances of making profits within 5 months but adsense takes time.

$400 is enough to start a website, provided that one does the promotion and marketing of the website himself.

How can you tell someone to spend their money "buying traffic", when he doesn't even have a clue how to start a website?

Spending your hard-earned money on traffic is one of the LAST things you want to do as a beginner. Utilize as many free methods as you can think of - forums, blog commenting, social media, guest blogs, etc. That will help you to get some traffic and understand how it's generated online.

Are you going to make any money from your website within 5 months? If the site is correctly set up to promote a product/service or has Adsense type of ads, then yes, you might get a sale or two and a few bucks from clicks on your ads, but obviously don't expect any substantial income within 5 months or any consistency either.
