my first online business, so I need your help

dear all members,

I am completely new to online business, I will start my website for designing logos, and I know that the marketing is the most important thing to get customers, in the start because I do not have knowledge in SEO, I will use paid ads, I am going to use google adwords, but because I am still new, I do not know what keywords should I use in my campaign. my goal is just to get 200-700$ per month, that will be enough for me, to get to that goal, how much should I spend on ads campaign?

  • Do you have a portfolio of past logo clients? If not, why not take on some jobs from Freelancer or oDesk or something?

    Seems like AdWords would get too pricy and competitive for logo designs. You can build a pretty impressive portfolio just on Fiverr. I know you won't be making much but it'll prove you've got the chops.
  • I agree with Duston. I'd use other places to drum up business first. Elance, oDesk, even sites like Fiverr to begin with. Nothing gets you clients more than a bunch of happy clients you've already serviced (which you can display on your regular site when you finally decide to put one up). Get the testimonials first.
  • always reinvest 30% of your profits back into marketing and getting more customers.
  • Freelancing is great platform to earn some extra bucks, you can find some good freelancing platform except Elance and upwork.

    According to me , no need to invest money on campaign just use your own skills and earn more then $700..

  • Until and unless you dont have decent experience, using adwords will only be a mess. I am sure if you do not have previous experience, all you will be doing is to waste some money as logo design is basically a competitive market.

    Beside, you could start with Freelancer and Odesk. The market is very much competitive there but learn some tips, take some exams, build you portfolio and gradually with time, you should certainly progress.

    Also work with Fiverr. You will get decent orders if you are able to optimize and work with your Fiverr account.

  • According to me, you should start SEO from now. to do SEO you can use Forum posting, Article submission, related blog commenting, bookmarking, RSS or, some other works as these. You can choose the Do-follow link more than the No-follow link. The do-follow link will increase your site traffic & Page rank at a time.; On the other hand the No-follow link will increase manual traffic only. So I suggest you to start the SEO from now for a long time result.

    actually I am still student, so I do not have much time to design logos, so I will work as reseller (I can spend only 1-3 hours per day), then it is better to build website rather than selling on fiverr and other freelancer websites.

    another idea is to resell website traffic, what do you think is better: reselling traffic or logos?

    • Wel, since you are still a student and cannot invest much time, you can resell logos or niche sites.
  • Before Investing on ad campaign....make your you get everything on paper..for e.g research the keywords and user age group of your product you want to promote....add maximum content on your site...give user their relevance to come on your website.

    Then come's the SEO part..which takes lots of time to come your website on google.
