Is there a way to make money with my love...

For TV and movies....

I've done a little reading about on here, and people seem to make recommendations based on certain skill sets?

I have none, I can't code, I can't write, I can't design, I have no transferable freelance skills... I am a complete blank canvas.

I do have basic wordpress knowledge etc.... and I'm willing to learn.

Can you guys help me?

I can't imagine the competition would be too strong in those niches. I've seen case studies of people ranking in Google for 30,000/month search keywords with just a domain.

You can monetize the site with AdSense. The CPC wouldn't be very high, I wouldn't imagine, but you can make up for it in traffic volume. You could also try listing the DVDs, blurays, and box sets on Amazon.

Movie and TV buffs are some passionate people, so if you can touch them with your writing, you could have a winner on your hands.

Learn to write. That's about the only way forward unless you have a good paying job, or a trust fund you can tap into for writers to produce the content for you. But then it's not your passion showing through.

You just wrote a coherent first and second post. You can write fine. Your headline got me to click through.

Just start picking the topics that interest you, and start writing. Forget about it being perfect, good is OK.

Maybe YouTube? If you don't want to write, what about video? Easy enough to learn.

      I can't top Synnuh's advice!!!

I'll just add that if you have a real passion for TV and movies, you might want to narrow down the niche of your first blog.

For example, genres; do you like mystery, horror, drama, love stories, etc.

One of the best places to find popular TV shows and movies is on Netflix. I'm pretty much a Netflix junkie, so for example, if I was going to blog about TV shows and movies, I'd hone in on crime dramas myself.

Also, don't think so much about what you 'can't do.' Take an inventory of sorts of what you CAN do and apply that to what you love doing that others new to the Internet don't know how to do.

For instance, once you launch your blog, you can do video tutorials about:

      • How to open a Netflix account
      • How to save your favorites in Netflix
      • How to search for your favorite shows online
      • How to use Hulu
      • How to avoid the scammers. There are A LOT of sites out there that claim you can watch your show online for free, but when you get there, you have to fill out an offer first. Or there are so many freaking popups that it can lock up your computer!

Also, some favorite topics could be - did you know that some TV channels air full episodes for free? CBS is big on that for some of their shows.

You could also blog about things like:
      • Why was "show name" cancelled?
      • What do you think next season would be like?

I could go on and on because this is one of my favorite pastimes - catching up on crime drama shows that I've either never watched or want to watch again.

I say - have fun with it!!!

If I'm reading right, you're telling people you have no skills, then asking for help.

Not to be mean, but you need to help yourself.

Honestly, you're gonna make mistakes along the way.

Just follow your heart and intuition, pursue whatever you do with passion and purpose, and like a child learning to walk, or falling over riding a bike, keep going until you get it right.

I think at one time Netflix paid out to affiliates even If traffic only used the free trial.

Well, it's good that you know Wordpress, but writing is a core part of making money online, because as you've probably heard "content is king", so you better start practising.

You don't have to become the next William Shakespeare, but as long as you can share your ideas and interests in a easy-to-understand and grammatically correct manner with others, then that's all what's required.

TV and movies is MASSIVE industry, so for example if you were to create a blog about movies and write posts about the latest films, famous actors, do reviews, etc, then I'm sure it will do well, if you stick with it and produce genuinely good content.

When you feel like you have no skills (like most people when they are first starting out), you get some. You can learn to write. It's not that difficult. Writing for the internet isn't like writing for an English class or for a professor. It's more conversational in its tone. You just have to connect with your audience and be able to answer any questions they may have.

If you're into television and movies, you could promote some popular dvd's and what not via Amazon. You just have to make sure that you get a generic domain name that's related to your niche. I'm sure you can also cross promote related products (like t-shorts and what not) for the really popular shows and movies.

For example, I'm a big fan of all things Star Trek and The Big Bang Theory (amongst other things). There are tons of things to promote for stuff like this. The cool thing about Amazon is that it tells you what related things said people are buying. When someone goes to Amazon and looks for stuff like this, they are definitely looking to buy. All you have to do is to find the right keywords.

To heck with your love/passions, provide something of value to the marketplace. Business is about providing what other people want...not what you want. Following your passion is narcissistic and completely backwards when it comes to business.

Wow, no skills. You really have nothing of value to offer then. I'm not being mean, it's just a fact.

If you're willing to learn, then why are you such a "blank canvas"? Seems like you should go to school or teach yourself a skillset that is marketable as a freelancer or employee. I can tell that you're not an entrepreneur, so trying to be something you're not is ill-advisable.

Too bad no one gave that advice to Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Oprah Winfrey, and countless others... (Btw, you may think of Oprah as just a "celebrity", but she's she's an incredibly sharp and highly successful entrepreneur and businesswoman.)

To say "following your passion is narcissistic" shows you don't really understand narcissism at all.

I dont want to sound harsh here but from the moment you were put on earth you have had to learn to crawl, stand, walk, put your clothes on and tie your own shoes, sometimes with a little help from others but mainly by yourself,

We now live in a society where the world is at our fingertips so you have no excuses, teach yourself to build a site to blog to code to do whatever you are interested in, we all entered the world with the same skills, get the right mindset /determination and the rest will follow

There is only you holding yourself back

I tried a Celebrity blog about 7 years ago. Its a tough cookie to crack. It is similar to TV and Movies.

Of course you really never know until you test it though

this is what i learned recently.. you don't want to use your passion as a profit making tool, instead, look for opportunity, market demand instead..

If you have WP skills, start a blog and slowly build it up. I am sure there are various WP Plugins that will be useful to you.

    Good luck!

  • Hi QwertyShows

None of us is born writing, we all started with fear of not making it, and we were taken by the passion as we become familiar with writing, if you are not even willing to try means that you do not want.

There are other explanations, excuse my frankness.

If you follow all the advice given, just make sure to do one other thing.

Spend as much time as possible thinking to yourself "Why should people read/watch my content?"

When you can come up with a suitable answer to that, absolutely run with it.

    Okay, no skills.

I read the headline, hovered my mouse over it and the tooltip made me klick. FYI, I don't own a tv and the last time I was in a cinema was when Avatar came out. I read through this thread and even wrote a reply.

I would say that is pretty good copywriting.

Do not, and I mean it - DO NOT listen to ANYONE who says you don't need passion, and you should just look for opportunity. That is THE WORST advice anyone can give you.

      Why?

If all you're doing is looking for money while having NO interest in what you're doing, then all you've done is created yourself another JOB. Period.

Eventually, you may end up hating what you're doing if all you're doing it for is the money.

You need to have BOTH. You have to have a passion for what you're doing, while at the same time looking for the opportunity to use that passion.

TRUE entrepreneurs practice their PASSION, whatever that passion is, and they find a way to make money with it, whether it's with blogging, speaking, creating products, helping other people in a paid consulting business, the list goes on.

But you absolutely, positively MUST have passion for what you're doing or your success is not really going to be fulfilling. And your lack of interest WILL show through in everything you do.

If your PASSION shows through everything you do, you WILL attract other people to you and you'll have a much better chance at success.

Not just my opinion either; all you have to do is search YouTube for the simple phrase "find your passion" and you'll find hundreds of successful marketers speaking about just that... like this one:

TV and movies are not much of a passion, they are ways of delivering content that people are passionate about.

They are way too broad to have much of a feeling about and very few people are going to care in a general way about the content delivery mechanisms themselves. Its like asking people to care about their toasters' design features when what they really want is raisin bread toast with butter.

Maybe you have a particular niche within these large markets that you might do well with.

You might want to sell on ebay. You can't even write? If you hadn't said that, i would have said Fiverr. Bottom line is that you cant be lazy online. Even Michael Jordan had days where he didn't want to practice - but he did it anyway because he knew that was the only way to become great.

Winners online do what they need to do... not what they want to do. I think you're not willing to work hard initially for eternal financial (and time) happiness.
