How to monetize 440.000 unique visitors per month in a sport news website

As in the title, a friend of mine owns a sports news website related to a single soccer team in Italy. Not a big team but he has 440.000 unique visitors each month and he just selling banners for 1k € per year.
How can I make him monetize his website?

You can look for CPA offers related to sports. I think it's one of the best ways to monetize your blog/ website.

You can also, try to grow your visitors by spreading the word about your website in social media sites etc.

Another way to monetize is to have an opt-in box in the website and ask people to subscribe to updates etc, then you can promote related affiliate offers to them.

^^ Those are all really good tips. A good pop up newsletter subscription box could help him build an e-mail list. I'd even look at offering products, such as linking to Amazon when deals come up.

The most obvious choice would be contextual ads, like Adsense or similar ad platforms?

Possibly some affiliate programs for sports gear?

      I would say:

      1. Affiliate Programs - Sports Betting (European Football), Sports Gear (For Fans), DVDs (Amazon - As most specialty sports team DVDs are not downloadable and need to be purchased), Information products on football (soccer) drills and training (See ClickBank or Google it).

      2. Google AdSense - Don't know much about it but just Google it.

      3. Create Own Product - T-Shirts or some other product related to the sport or specific teams with his branded website name and logo on it (Be careful not to cross copyright infringements).

      4. Donations (If people believe in the website he can say that 50% of donations will go to PPC ads to drive in more traffic and help build the online community into a stronger force that benefits everyone and 50% goes to the maintenance of the website).

      5. Your Own Affiliate Program - For this you would need your own product or go the route where you pay internet marketers for sending you visitors on a per click basis.

      Hope that helps. J

or do you have private agreement?

    Your friend could:

    - create an AdSense account (or similar alternattives)
    - find CPA sport offers
    - create and sell some products: merchandise or offer some services

Well every one said it already AdSense, but with that many views you can do anything. Amazon products for soccer players and fans, better yet sell anything with Pretty Girls pictures. I am Asian and I am serious that audience is Hot, I played soccer in School and even at the College level its called Football over there.

Try to put some ads in a few platforms about soccer or sports.

    Try a content locker.

Depending on what he offers that could make him or her a pretty penny in the first month. You want to be careful not to overdo it. The more you content lock, the more it can drive people away.
