How much should I charge to have a 10 page ebook created?

I want to use Elance.com to get someone to create a 10 page or so ebook. I am unsure what to charge for this type of job. Would $200 be too much?

Any suggestions please?

Thanks

$200 for 10 pages? How many words are going to be on those pages? Also, how much research is going to go into prep of the book. In my opinion this would not even be a full ebook. You can get good quality articles for 12 bucks and one article should fill a page. I think you can get a book at 10 pages for about $120 or less. Again, the topic and the depth of research could change this a great deal.

Thanks for the replies. I was just looking at a small ebook to drive traffic to my online course. I have a 75 page ebook and also one of about 10 pages that I've written myself and they both generate the traffic I need. This is the first time I've thought about outsourcing it and was curious as to what to charge.

If it is going to be that small you should just write it yourself. It would be easier I think.

On elance, list the job as "under $500" and then be very specific in the job listing of what you need and how you want the book written.

The more specific you are, the better the bids will be. Good idea to look at other jobs posted to see what people experienced in hiring through elance give as descriptions.

Then wait and look at the bids you receive and decide based on what people are willing to charge. Only big caution is to specify that you want bids from those accomplished in writing in English.

        Outsourcing is a great idea.

You could use the 10 page item you already have and just call it a free report to enhance your bigger ebook or course.
If its already proven and brining in traffic you shouldnt need anything else.
Are the products tied together in any way?
You could also write a few pages from your larger ebook or course and give away 2 free reports.

You pay for what you get, but that also has to be tested!

As a writer who's worked on Elance for years now, let me share this:

entry is right - you do get what you pay for and I've found that those who try to go "cheap" end up being unhappy with the work and also frequently have to have it redone anyway.

That said, there's no reason you should pay an outrageous amount either... My normal rate is between $10 and $20 per page, depending upon the depth of the subject and the amount of research required... from what I've seen in other bids, that's a pretty middle-of-the-road pricing structure.

When you're talking to potential providers, give them as much detail as possible and then look at who either already has some knowledge about your subject or is comfortable with the amount of research you're going to require.

Ten pages doesn't seem like a big deal, but I was once asked to write a 10 page ebook on an obscure poker game... There's only so much you can write about "how to play" and even throwing in the history and variants of the game, finding good information on it was a difficult process to say the least. Fortunately, I did a bit of research before I bid so I knew what I was getting into. I charged $20 per page for that one and felt very comfortable quoting that price.

Other topics might not have been such an ordeal.

    Hope that helps

Oops... one more thought... will you want a custom cover page, stock photos, text boxes, TOC or any other extras? All those have to be factored in so keep that in mind as well

Incidentally, turning your book into a PDF shouldn't cost you any extra... easy peasy...
